ParticipantThis chart is a prime example of data being misused. Most financial think tanks such as the independent Brookings Institutioon have come out and stated that the rise in prices in Bidens first two years was due primarily to covid and supply chain kinks. Seconod input was increased govt spending to stimulate the economy.
The Brookings Institution, a think tank based in Washington, D.C, wrote in June 2023 that:
“Most of the rise in inflation in 2021 and 2022 was driven by developments that directly raised prices rather than wages, including sharp increases in global commodity prices and sectoral price spikes driven by a combination of pandemic-induced kinks in supply chains and a huge shift in demand during the pandemic to goods from services.”
Have to look at the whole picture. Like I said earlier, covid skewed a lot of economic data. A lot.

ParticipantOne of my relatives used to have a saying that stuck with me since I was a kid, “ In life, with finances, things only go bad or get worse for the stupid. “
I’m not stupid, therefore I never step in dog shet. I’m always one step ahead. I told you guys things would get worse because of tariffs. You guys acted like tariffs was a new thing Orange Jesus invented. I also predicted chaos and a circus. Why? Because that’s what we saw the first term. What I didn’t anticipate was the incredible boneheaded move of starting a war with, of all people Iran.
So being that I predicted this clusterfuck, I was prepared. I anticipated higher mortgage rates and diversified away from loan originations ( my bread and butter for many years) and grew my non performing loan business which is not dependent on rates. I stayed firm with stock investments and raised rents in my real estate portfolio. I’m not vulnerable to gas or diesel prices because I bought a Tesla many years ago. I do eat three times a day and two snacks but I can absorb grocery prices fine with the revenue I get. I’m in the catbird seat watching the chaos and ready to pounce on the misfortune of the stupid that believed the lies over the facts.
Where are the guys that argued against me? Other than PT, bless his heart , who continues to fight a losing war. Where are the other guys that filled this board with nonsense? Gone, hiding, on the run.
Frankly, I feel vindicated. I don’t wish harm on anyone but elections have consequences. FAFO ? lol -

ParticipantThe world is a little bigger then the home mortgage business…
Dozens of metrics besides gas and diesel costs are good. You want to ignore that you be you
btw you and Java predicted tariffs would lead to inflation but inflation is much lower then Biden. So actually you were wrong. Just because you ignore it doesn’t make it true

ParticipantCall me crazy, BUT all data around the covid time should be taken with a major grain of salt. That goes for the last part of Trump 1.0 and the beginning 1/2 or whatever it was of Biden. All of the economic data was skewed, including the good for gas (oil was artificially low). I wouldn’t blame or praise either one on the economic front for results during covid. How it was handled policy-wise is a whole different topic of course.
