USC lines are good.  Oregon’s are great.

USC could not run on UO and UO had an effective if not great run game against USC. UO Clearly better in both cases. 47 yards rushing for USC won’t work.   Oregon has rushed for 137 with 10 min left.   That’s ok. Not bad for UO. Not bad for USC. Not dominating.  But they win the run game

I thought there was plenty of criticism of both Coaching staffs to be had.  We all know and have discussed USC shortcomings but the Oregon penalties and some of the strategic  decisions didn’t impress me.   Lanning and staff have nothing on Riley.   130 yards of penalties in 48 minutes of play at home is embarrassing.  USC also had too many

Maiava and the USC  passing game is better than Moore. Oregon pass coverage defense was the pass interference penalty or hope that the ball was thrown badly.   I’m not sure if that’s a reflection of Oregon and aptitude or the fact that USC has very good receivers.

Oregon had the second best past defense in the country at 125 yards per game. USC shredded them at home for almost 300 with 12 minutes left in the game. Oregon fans will have a lot to say about that. Just like USC fans like to freak out every time their defense gives up a lot of yards on the ground.

Oregon special teams were better than USC.  The missed fg didn’t hurt Oregon thanks to UsC penalty.  And the punt return was huge.  USC missed a fg and kicked a kick off out of  bounds.  Win for Oregon

Oregon is a top 5 program playing at home   So this is a barometer game.  See how far you’ve come and how you match up. USC kept answering and was in a one possession game with 10 min left on the road.  Even had a shot with 516 min left.  To a top 5 team.  Not good enough to win but a lot more competitive than I expected.

Program is clearly making progress and can play at the top of the  conference

USC defense faces the 3rd best offense in the nation and gave up 28 points.   Despite Maiava throwing two picks and fumbling.  Not bad for the D I would say

overall I think it’s a step in the right direction.  I’m confident the bed wetters and tampon users think the world is coming to an end and Riley stole their lunch money and ripped off the head of their teddy bear.  But overall I don’t think USC has anything to be too bothered by here.  They’ve got a few things to clean up and some depth to build.

it this were Minnesota or Wisconsin I’d have a different view but Oregon is as talented a team as UsC has seen in years
