ParticipantSure has been quiet since we lost in our efforts to get Peyton Houston ( to LSU) months ago. It looks like we are passing on a big name ‘27 QB and are looking for a guy that won’t scare Jonas Williams away or just as likely someone cheaper than the $ a big name would require.
4 star Huntington Beach QB Edmunds will be parting ways with Ohio State soon but USC is not likely to pursue him. I haven’t heard any possible destinations for him yet. But I’m wondering if UCLA given their current hot streak, will give it a shot at flipping him.
Back to USC, they have invited a Southern California quarterback prospect back to campus, Dan Weber who is still trying to earn a USC offer. Weber wants to commit to someone soon. UCLA is in the mix.
USC has also invited a couple of other guys to come to campus and throw for the opportunity to earn an offer, but none are big names. No sense of urgency by the coaches to bring in a big name tells me they have someone in mind for the next recruiting cycle.

ParticipantMore good stuff BB. BB, have you heard anything about how Jonas Williams has progressed? I haven’t heard anything on Jonas’ spring camp eval.

ParticipantIn all respects Bruddah Balls, Dane Weber and his parents should just eliminate USC and C.LR. C.LR slow play was all bad. There are 15 top FB schools after Dane like a hot potato and showing him da love. Weber has a top 8 and USC is not dat list.
I really do not know why C.LR is focking around with the 2027 QB class; there’s no ? USC needs to get a top QB. Anyway, dat’s my gripe for dis nice Sunday. Happy Mother’s Day… Cheers

KeymasterYeah, the idea that they don’t need a QB? Hello? 2028 QB in mind? Wonderful.
That means after this year they go into next year with Jonas Williams. Huard, their mulligan this year, is gone. Maiava is gone. And 3 isn’t a very deep QB room, and now becomes 1.
I don’t know what the (*&#$ they are thinking honestly.
The only thing I can figure is that they have back room assurances from kids at other programs that they’d love to come to USC if USC will let them portal next year. OR that kids committed to other schools for 2027 have told USC they will gladly flip if USC still has an opening come signing day.
Because otherwise, this make absolutely no sense and I have to believe Bowden is smarter than this. Crap, Riley is the QB guru, he has to have a guy or 3.

ParticipantBruddah Java, I mentioned your theory in another post. Yeah maybe C. LR is trying to flip a top QB already committed and feels confident. But, why dick around Dane Weber? I’m Dane’s dad, I would tell C.LR go fock off. Dane is one hell of a QB; he has all da tools and skills. Most of all he has Mojo and Moxie and da Eye of the Tiger. Kid is a winner and a great leader.
Shoot, if UCLA lands Weber, not looking forward playing against him… Cheers
PS. Kinda disappointed with GM Bowden as well. Why didn’t he just over ride C.LR and make Weber or Caden Jones an offer. Jones would be a nice fit as well.

ParticipantFrom what I heard regarding Weber is the price tag has gone up. Cal and UCLA in the mix but it’s going to take writing a big check.
UCLA definitely is trying to flip Brady Edmunds from the Buckeyes with Dean Kennedy recently making a in house visit. Both QB’s have made several unofficial visits to the campus. We will see but I’m starting to lose confidence regarding Weber coming. Hope he proves me wrong.

Keymasteras they apply to you and Butkus.
look around the country of the number of high school quarterbacks that came to a school took a check for $1 million backed up for a year and then screwed their school in the you know what
look at what longstreet did to USC he was one of many there have been articles written in the last year about how the class of 25 quarterbacks came to school for a year and then they all left.
why pay 1 million bucks for a back up who’s not gonna stick around? it’s worth it if they signed a three-year contract they can’t get out of. it’s not worth it. It’s the kid sits on the bench hands the ball off three times this year and then transfers after the year is over with 1 million bucks in the bank
I am guessing that if Williams sticks around for 2027 and Dunson turned into holding USC hostage for the position financially I’m guessing USC goes and gets like the starting quarterback at North Dakota or the third string guy at Michigan State and he backs up for a year either for the price of a scholarship or $100,000
and then USC recruits a high school guy. for the class of 2028 to come in and sit for a year or two behind this Williams dude who by that time is probably on his way out
still this sounds very thin at the quarterback position for me, especially since this is a position where guys often get hurt. UCLA has had several injuries at quarterback the last few years
and before Caleb Williams came, USC had a revolving door of injured quarterbacks from dart to Slovis to the kid who didn’t like to play quarterback very much but his dad wanted him to and he played it about six schools in five years or something JT something

ParticipantGood points Bruddah Java. From what my understanding, GM Bowden structures player’s NIL monies via monthly checks? So USC’s downside is very minimal. If a player decides to leave, no big deal. Yeah, other schools dat offer up front monies are stupid and will eat it if a kid decides to leave.
Hell, I do not know what’s going on with USC’s slow play on a QB for da 2027 class. Sure, there’s a lot of time left and I should settle down a bit. There must good reasons for USC slow play on a QB. I think we will end up with a top QB come in Dec. 2026 signing day… Cheers

ParticipantJT Daniels ended up at 4 different colleges over 6 years before retiring due to concussion issues. That dude seemed to never run out of eligibility it seems.
I really doubt you guys would have ever lost Dart if not for Williams following Riley to SC. Dart had way too much talent to sit on the bench for 2 years.

ParticipantThanxs Bruddah RWC for sharing some inside info. Ah, so Dane Weber is demanding big bucks has become a big problem. In Dec. 2025 he was an under da radar QB, with a low NIL valuation. Looks like he hired a savvy agent. Maybe dat’s the reason USC has not offered yet? OK, I can accept dat reasoning. Hele on…
On QB Brady Edmunds. Hm, UCLA is trying to flip him, but I think he would cost more than Weber? So, I don’t understand UCLA’s money issue with Weber? Edmunds, 6-5, 220 lbs, 4 stars, #18 QB N, #1 QB Ca, pro style. Seen him since his Soph season, he’s a Top pro style QB, does not run out of the pocket but is mobile in the pocket. I think he is capable running for positive yards (like Maiava). Brady has a very strong arm, throws 60 yd bombs with ease and throws rockets on medium range (he has all da throws).
For me, I prefer a DT QB type for the spread O dat most teams run vs a pro style QB. Dat added dimension of a QB running at times creates a Big Problem for D’s. Hell, Weber has a strong arm, having all da throws as well. But, he runs like a RB, strong and very physical runner. In saying dat, I like Dane Weber over Edmunds. Shoot da team dat gets Weber is getting one hell of a QB. Heck, he reminds me of your great QB, Cade McNown but faster…
Read dat Edmunds is an Ohio St legacy, his grandfather and father played FB for Ohio St. Brady was brought up as a devout Ohio St fan. But, for what ever reason, Ohio St is R another QB. Dat has put Brady’s commitment on shaky grounds. Can’t blame him & his support team looking at other schools. If Qhio St gets a 2nd QB commitment, Edmunds is a goner.
Good luck Bruins, I’m sure you guys will land a top QB for 2027… Cheers

ParticipantI can’t see USC not going all in on a good QB soon. These kids are caught up in the moment right now, and once the season starts they will come back to reality and start rethinking their choices (UCLA recruits included).

ParticipantUSC Visits. Interesting OV,
5-28-29-2026. 3 OL dat USC R hard and wanted badly.
1. Isaiah Betola, OL, Hawaii, close one with Cal having a slight lead. We got to convince dis young Hawaiian to be a Trojan…
2. Jackson Roper, OL, Colorado, hmm he’s a UCLA commit and yet visiting USC?
3. Reis Russell, OL, Colorado, hmm he’s a UDub commit and yet visiting USC?
6-12-26. 5 players scheduled, but these 2 Wr caught my attention.
1. Nick Lennear, 5* Wr, 6-0, 185 lbs, Northwestern HS, Fl. A Miami commit. It would be a Big pay back if we flip Lennear from Miami; they just flip our Wr- Woodard last week.
2. Rahz Zo Edwards, 4*, TE/Wr, 6-6, 210 lbs, Grant Union HS, Sacramento. 95% Cal lean. Thought we stopped R Zo awhile back?

Saw a USC pod caster show (top 5 podcasters) the other day and he gave his opinion dat USC should look into QB Ryan Rakowski, 3*, 5-10, 175 lbs, Palos Verdes HS as our 2027 QB. He stated dat Rakowski was the top QB at some kind QB competition or showcase. I’ve seen Rakowski 3 times in 2 years now, he is good, but not USC caliber. Rakowski would fit well at Zona, Fresno St, San Diego St, Hawaii, Boise St, etc. Man, lost all respect for the pod caster for even coming up with da recommendation and idea.
Nah, since we did not get Weber (committed to Cal), C.LR and GM Bowden should after Caden Jones, 6-3, 190 lbs, Crean Lutheran HS, Irvine, Ca, Pro QB. Reports said, C.LR evaluated Jones, but has not offered yet. Seen his HL tape and I think Jones would fit well at USC. Jones is a very good athlete for a QB, very fast (4.45 40, dat would make a 10.75 100 m), 39″ vertical (A+), who can run, has a strong arm, with all the throws. 2 yrs stats: Passing, 4,200 yds, 42 TD’s, 75% accuracy, QBR 131 (A ratings), Rushing, 350 yds, 5 TD’s.
Looks like he is competitor, has Moxie and Mojo which are A+ traits. He has great size and very athletic. I think C.LR should go after Jones. He is leaning to Zona, but I feel if he gets an offer from USC, he would commit immediately. Heck, I do not think he would cost dat much… Cheers

ParticipantBruddah Java, I would est that Jones NIL value around $200-$300 K per year and if it’s over dat range, yeah USC should not offer him. Come on USC should be able to afford dat, no? Heck, in my opinion Jones is affordable and would wait his turn (backing up Jonas Williams). I feel Jones is a good fit as our 2027 QB, (my 2nd choice, my #1 choice was Dane Weber). He has the skills to become a very good college QB under C.LR. Hell, if he goes to any school, he would have to sit anyway. Rarely freshmen QB ever start and become QB1.
My post was really about the pod caster recommending QB Rakowski for our 2027 QB (silly recommendation & idea)… Cheers
