This is crazy. Speaks to war vs BA vs OBP vs Runs vs RBIs etc

hard to make sense of it all in some ways

dodgers are first in MLB in BA at .261 & OBP and 2nd in runs

angels are 23rd in BA and 14th in runs

      pages/shohei/trout

      war – 3.6 (6th.in league)/2.8/2.6

      hits – 75/75/59

      walks – 19/51/65

      Walks + hits – 94/126/124

      runs- 42/50/53 (2nd in league)

      BA – .272/.298/.230

      OBP – .315/.421 (2nd in league)/.393 (9th)

      HR – 15/14/16

      RBIs – 56/41/33

Love a high OBP guy but I want it with a good BA too. Like Shohei. Unlike Trout this year. A hit drives in runs.  A walk usually doesn’t. It’s a flaw in advanced baseball stats. A double is treated the same as a walk in OBP. It’s inaccurate.
Pages doesn’t walk at all but look at his hits leading to RBIs.

but having a high OBP and a low BA is like stagflation lol.

But runs win games. Trout has a bunch of them. Due to his high OBP. so can’t completely downplay it at all.

Shohei is clearly having best year even without his cy young campaign. But I would take pages 1st half over Trouts.

this is baseball talk. I am biggest Trout fan there is even tho I don’t look like it here. but the one critique about his game is he doesn’t swing the bat enough even tho he has a high strikeout number as well. 🤷‍♂️ I would rather he be a consistent 100 rbi guy and maybe a 75 run guy. Thats what Angels need IMO. It’s funny tho. Angels are considered a bad team but Trout is on pace for 120 runs. That’s a BIG number.

Show has scored 1 million runs last year or the year before

I would be curious the strikeouts and strikeout rate between trout and Pages.

Paige’s productivity has fallen dramatically in June and I’m not convinced that child batting average nor his walks are really who he is

I do think the Shohei info is realistic because I think that guy is whoever he decides to be if he wants to be a big on base guy with less power. I think he could be that if he wants to be a big power guy I think he can be that if he wants to steal bases or have a 1.1 ERA obviously he can do that   he really is otherworldly

but I truly believe that the trout and pages comparison because of the reasons I cited at this point is inconclusive

I agree Shohei can do whatever he chooses

        except the playoffs.

        He’s just remarkable.

        strike out %’s

        pages/trout/shohei

        20%/25%/22%

Think that’s a major improvement for Andy.  He’s slipped lately so this is not a complete picture at this point

Shohei only three 6 shutout innings and hit 3 hr in the game that sent them to the World Series.  Yeah he really sucks in the playoffs.

        .230 BA in 2024

.265 BA in 2025. At least That’s better then Mookies career .253 playoff average
