      Gary Pattersons Defense

riley winning close games and playing best talent not his favorites.

Carroll like young talent like Boobie Bowman Waffle & Mosley. Cant wait and hope they stay more than one year before they are poached.

Nico I. I think this kid is as talented as they come. I think he’s gonna be a surprise story/name of the year.
I actually am more impressed with him physically than Archie. And I’m not kidding. Of course QB play is not just arm talent and foot speed. Have to be able to play the position as 11 dudes try to stop you. Tools help. Mental matters. Nico has to prove that part as well.
Will the talent around ucla be able to keep him upright??
nice easy schedule. Think bruins win 9 Games this year.
and lol I hope I’m wrong.

is Bob C the real deal. Lil McVay has the mouth and the look. Thats half of it. Can he strategize and overcome setbacks. We shall see. I am not betting against him. He seems like a great hire. Unfortunately. I mean Sark is a top coach and he’s a moron. Maybe the job is not as hard as we think. CLR is no genius either.

Jayden M surprises me. Good kid. So gangly and erratic on accuracy. Just worries me. Hope CLR play calls around his abilities. think talent wise this is a 9 win team. Easily. Could be more for sure.  Hope they perform above their pay grade

Curt Cignetti without Mendoza. Mendoza played one of the all time great QB seasons in CF history. Right behind Joe Burrows magical run. Carson’s was actually top 5 in history as well but brutal early schedule kept him from going undefeated. Still #1 pick lol.
Thats alot to overcome. I am not doubting Cignetti but I do think he needs to prove it still if you know what I mean.

Archie for Heisman. Fun story. Let’s see how he does.
im a fan of his name and story. Not in love with his talent but I love his name.
Not sures he’s a home run player or draft pick. Hes was also very young last year. Let the games begin.

UCLA “should” have a better OL this year by far, but that is not saying much at all, last season was a disaster.  Nico is still not showing accuracy and that is a problem.  From what I have read and heard, he is making the right decisions, so can that be fixed?  It’s up to him at this point.  I think UCLA is not ready for 9 wins, I am calling 7 at most.  There will be growing pains, but there will obviously be a big improvement so they need to market that correctly to the next batch of mercenaries they recruit.

USC will do fine, likely make the playoffs unless Riley burns the brisket again.  It’s really difficult to believe that the ball won’t bounce his way this time, he’s due.

the biggest question is the other teams in the B1G.  I have not really paid to much attention to anything outside of LA in terms of college football, but have the other teams made the recruiting splashes/improvements that UCLA and USC has this offseason?  Again have not heard anything, so it is very possible there is no change in the pecking order.  Oregon gets theirs, but that’s nothing new.  Indiana will likely be the same, but as you said, hard to win, harder to win again.  Will be a fun year, just hoping that I can watch good, entertaining, fun football and not the on-field abortion I saw last year.

B1G.  Given teams dat will be very good, top teams in nation:  Oregon, Ohio St, Indiana and hopefully USC.  Watch out teams, these teams will surprise people and give the top 4 a very hard time/game:  Michigan, Penn St, UDub and UCLA.

I feel Maiava will have a big season and make the final 4 for the Heisman and go to NY.

I’m not an Archie M fan and disagree with many of the FB pundits that say he is one of the top QB’s and will make the final 4 for the Heisman.  I think he is way overrated.  The kid does not Mojo and Moxie which are important traits for QB’s.

Nico I is a talented QB.  Let’s see if UCLA OL gives him good protection and have a decent run game.  Nico will have good/solid Wr’s and TE’s to target.  His weakness:  does not have Mojo and Moxie, inaccurate.  Hoping dat Wr Shane Rosenthal have a break out season, I loved how he played at Newbury Park HS.  SR was the 2024, SS CIF Offensive Player of the Year & All State.  He is a one of my most favorite Cali FB players ever.  Shane R is a hard nose FB player.  Wish he was at USC and a Trojan.

Nah, Indiana will be a top team again.  They will have a solid and hard run game again.  Josh Hover is a top QB and will lead Indiana’s O.  Their D will be very good again, Top 10 for sure.  C. Cignetti is top 3 coach and will get his boys play phyiscal FB .

Yep agree with you; let’s see if DC Patterson fixed our bad D.  He has the talent, he just got to get them played solid D and play physical and fast.

Patterson gives me the most optimism. I am a litte concerned he’s been out of coaching for a while.
Could care less about Archie tbh, the last QB I remember with this much hype was Ron Pawlus and I remember how that went. It will be tough for Manning to live up to the hype, no matter how he does.
I think Jayden needs to take that final step up and win a big game. Our record of late against top ten teams is atrocious. Let’s see a come back win against a top ten team, or a mistake free offense.
Coach C at Indiana sure seems like the real deal. I fully expect to see them in the playoffs at minimum. Def in the hunt for a natty. We’ll see.

      I want to see…
      who are the next WR’s?
How will the O Line do this year. Last year was a pleasant surprise.
Will Riley stick to the run to help balance the O? we have two very proven good backs that can get the job done and take some pressure off Jayden.
How will the db’s do? Seems like constant hype coming in and then turn over in that department.
If Riley can’t win ten games, I’m not sure he will ever will. Not in the BIG.

TE will be nice to see involved in the offense again. Good chance with new receivers to get Bowman involved in the offense with pass plays.

The play in your video was called back because the center, Reed, was downfield.

      1) 162 getting tarmac’d mid-season and Patterson coaching (and losing) a few ganes.

      2) Jen doing a complete reboot of this stagnant, loser era.

      3) Sark winning an NC while this board melts down.

They’ll underachieve too. They also have a shitty coach.

Going to add seeing Waffle play. Really hoping he doesn’t turn into the next Korey Foreman. If Foreman didn’t have that one key int., his entire career would have been forgettable. I remember the hype when we signed him. Sigh. I feel like Waffle can make an impact right now, tough to do for an edge though. South Carolina’s Stewart was one exception. I think Oregon has had a couple as well, even last year. They always seem to come up with good DL.

Oregon finally NOT being out-coached and inexplicably uncompetitive in a playoff game and not losing by more than 2 TDs…. 🙁
