With how strict the NCAA is these days, he will probably have to sit out the first quarter against Prairie View  A & M or might have to write an essay on gambling.  Probably a how to manual

Bruddah Java, From what I have read, da kid is All Pau with college FB.  Da NCAA gave him da death penalty.  But, Sorsby is fighting back via his lawyer (appealing via legal, courts).  Appeals takes time and without him practicing with da team, I do not see him playing for Texas Tech in 2026.  He can not even transfer.

I’m wondering how the NFL will see and treat his gambling habit/addiction?  Knowing the NFL and how they value high character,  I do not see him in da NFL too.  The kid is Pau with FB… He needs good professional help and counseling…  Cheers

Google.  The NCAA has officially denied Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby’s request for reinstatement for the 2026 season. This ruling stems from an NCAA investigation revealing Sorsby wagered at least ($90,000) across his college career, which included placing approximately 40 bets on his own team (Indiana) while playing for them in 2022.

The timeline of developments following the ruling:

The NCAA Stance: Sorsby was deemed permanently ineligible under the NCAA’s bright-line rules, which carry a strict, uncompromising penalty for betting on one’s own team or sport. [1, 2, 3]

Rehab & Appeal: After completing a 35-day residential treatment program for a clinically recognized gambling addiction, Sorsby and Texas Tech appealed the decision. Texas Tech has actively petitioned for a reduced two-game suspension rather than a permanent ban. [1, 2, 3]

Lawsuit & Court: Sorsby’s legal team filed a lawsuit seeking a temporary injunction against the NCAA to restore his eligibility. [1, 2]

PS.  Gambling by athletes at college and pro in all sports, see below.

Per NCAA estimates.  Gambling by athletes is highly prevalent. Approximately 21% to 24% of male collegiate athletes and over 50% of professional athletes admit to placing sports wagers. Furthermore, rates of problem or disordered gambling among athletes (ranging from 7% to 15%) are notably higher than those seen in the general population.

I saw an article on this.  They said the nfl won’t care.  There’s a wr for New England who just went through this and now he’s caught 1100 yards of passes and that’s all they care about

apparently this kid has late first round early second talent.  The 26 class sucked and 27 is great so someone is looking to snag him in the supplemental draft. Which I didn’t know still existed.
