ParticipantA football pundit said USC got their NIL collectives in order which helped them get the #1 R class for 2026. He said that USC was not the top school in average NIL per player, adding several other factors played into players picking USC. He said USC being in Los Angeles, loads of fun things to do, sunny Southern California beaches and great weather, A+ education, loads of beautiful chicks, top FB program and the arrival of GM Bowden help USC get the #1 2026 class.
So I looked up the NIL rankings for 2026, heck USC was only #12 (not sure how accurate this rankings?). So this guy thinking must be right. USC just needed to get competitive in the NIL game and they would beat the very top paying schools & get top players. Yeah, money talks, but there are so many other things play into the R game. USC and UCLA have a great advantage being in Los Angeles… Cheers

Participant$40 million bucks seems to be the magic number to spend for a national championship roster. Took USC too long to get it going but we are in the mix now.

LA DuckParticipantThanks for the link. Happy with 5th place in NIL/Collectives for my quacks.
Very interesting….the recruits that chose USC for:
– Babes
– Sun
– Beaches
– Fun things to doAre the opposite of the recruits who chose Oregon for:
– Lack of distractions/can’t get into trouble
– Best chance to make it to the next level (NFL)
– Association with Nike (collegiately and professionally)Trust me, I get it – I almost applied to UCLA and Santa Barbara for the sun/beaches/babes. But ultimately figured I’d do better putting my nose to the grindstone and focusing on the work/study at hand for the next 4 years (at least as much as possible as a teenager…lol).
Glad those types of guys are more interested in going to poducky, rainy Eugene.
And then save LA for all the sun/beaches/babes post-college fun, like I did…. 🙂

ParticipantBut no recruit ever chose Oregon for
the weekly uniform carousel (I thought the stated rationale for it was “the recruits love it”); or
the luxurious and state-of-the-art “facilities”
Right, Duck?

ParticipantBruddah LADuck, a good majority of HS FB players are Not playing college FB for the academics and getting a degree. Your bookworm theory does not apply. Academics and getting a degree is on da low end of their metrics. NIL deals are still #1 and making the NFL is #2.
Maybe kids that play other sports will factor academics high onto their decision making… Cheers

ParticipantUSC only accepts students with a proven academic record. Applicants who have proven to be smart, disciplined and immune to distractions. Guys who can juggle academic success with putting notches on the bedpost. Let’s admit that football players at any top school are not going to be spending much time studying.
You f’d up LAD, you didn’t mentions USC as a possibility so I guess your grades weren’t up to snuff but you could have partied at Ucla or Ucsb.
Missed opportunity.

LA DuckParticipantNo, USC was never on the table for me.
Cal was. Too close to home, though.
USC just reeked of elitism back in the late ’70s to me.
Sorta like if your whole college was one big frat rather than a small percentage of the student body.
Glad that’s no longer the case….right, boys?… 🙂

KeymasterYes, because when people think of top academics, serious studies and focused career pursuit, the University of Oregon always comes to mind before USC.
Pffffft
