Sam also had 2nd highest accuracy for deep balls. Behind Maye by a tick. Sam was 1st last year.

Sam was also first/second on yards per completion so not a check down warrior like Goff.

NFL QB’s high completion % is somewhat overrated & skewed.  The NFL passing game is pretty much short passes, dink and dunk plays. It started in the 80’s with the Westcoast O by C. Walsh.  Pretty much NFL DC philosophy = give up short passes, keep Wr’s in front of DB’s and defend the long balls well.  In the RZ, D’s tighten up things, making O from scoring TD’s.  The NFL has become FG city (boring).

2ndly, rule changes favors QB’s and passing plays.  1.  QB’s are pretty much protected for hard types of sacks, thus D players must be careful when putting pressure on QB’s.  2. OL use of their hands in pass blocking gave da passing game a big advantage.  3.  Strict enforcement on DB’s contact rules beyond 5 yards makes it easier for Wr’s, TE’s, RB’s get good separation…  Cheers

valid. Very. Abs needs to be “adjusted”

that being said that is why I added Sams

deep ball numbers. He does both.
