Interesting situation here PT. Milei cozied up to Trump and Elon. Trump promised Milei $40b in aid to Argentina and said the bailout was only going to happen if Milei’s party won the election. Milei leveraged that promise during the campaign to sway voters. Further, Trump promised to import 80,000 metric tons of beef from Argentina which is going to hammer American cattle ranchers. Argentina also capitalized on China’s soybean demand, that hammered American soybean farmers.
Why are Argentina farmers being favored over American farmers? I don’t know for sure but Argentina has one of the largest lithium deposits in the world. Lithium is needed for EV batteries. EV’s are here to stay, most of you will be driving an electric car sometime in the near future. Remember when we were going to buy Greenland ? Greenland also has significant lithium reserves. Lithium is the new oil.
Milei is just another corrupt Latin American president with a new look. But just like Somoza, Pinochet, and other junta leaders of the past, he is OUR corrupt president.
