this is pretty good summary of what Mark Walter did. It ain’t pretty. And helps explain the crazy high nba team valuations as well. This is gonna pop and Magic isn’t gonna have a piece of every sports team sold in last 10 years

KeymasterI don’t think they are. This is what Warren Buffet did but Buffet spent the insurance money on buying other companies. The idea of buying sports entities is unique and certainly riskier.
The quick sale of the Lakers smells panic but $2.5 billion of profit has got to shore up the books for Walter’s group.
I was under the impression the Dodgers were still spinning cash positively.
One thing he COULD do is sell like 1/3 to half the team. If he needed cash.
As to the various loans, I have a hard time believing there are outsiders who would not loan his group, with the backing of the stocks funds and teams they have, money. I mean, he COULD just like stop buying franchises left and right and actually make money off them for awhile. That’s a unique concept.

KeymasterEh lying. He probably signed some paper his accountant told him to sign. I sign stuff all the time. So did Trump

ParticipantIs getting a loan to buy an asset the same as “investing” into a company like BH way?
and if you inflate the value of an asset in order to be able to get a bigger loan that is fraud.
