as I told you.  One of JS victims is apparently recanting??

I think JS is probably guilty. Actually. Shouldn’t take showers with young men/kids after hours and not get in trouble. The QB coach who saw it (mcquery) also somewhat recanted by saying later (in trial or deposition) that he isn’t sure what he saw or heard vs what he told JoPa. He saw it Fr night and called to meet with JoPa at coachs house that weekend and he told JoPa that he saw or heard sexual acts. 🤮

JoPa then had a meeting with AD on Monday to tell him what McQuery told him. JS was retired and no longer on staff and the AD said he would handle it. He then spoke with his boss and police. Not sure if PSU police or Pennsylvania.

joPa then won’t back to work. For some reason he didn’t put on a brown coat and become Columbo.

The Penn State scandal gave this board one its greatest lines: SANDUSKIED!!!! Credit to Fraud.

Also, During Pete’s run, “ Rythmic slapping sounds coming from  the coliseum field during the game vs UCLA “

I guess enough time has gone by where the Paterno family and friends feel they can try and rehabilitate JoePa’s image. But no, crimes again children are the lowest of the low. Pedophiles are despicable. F them.

It is an American tradition ( or maybe human tradition) to try to “soften” the image of douche bags after their death or after a long period of time after their transgressions . As an example :

Richard Nixon, Martin Luther King, Harry Truman, Edgar AllenPoe, Ulysses S Grant, John Q Adams and on.

PT, “ I think JS ( Jerry Sandusky) is PROBABLY guilty”

Really? PROBABLY? Dear lord PT.  Sounds like you are ready to defend Sandusky. PROBABLY Guilty?

Listen dumb dumb. I’m the guy you want around if any ahole hurts a kid. There will be no “past trauma”, history of prejudice, progressive BS. Perp will be hurt. Badly. And possibly permanently.

This righteousness also stands for innocent people who get ramrodded.

JS was retired when shower incident happened for a few years.

JoPa told his boss (ad)  and university President within 47 hours of hearing about it.

lots of victims were paid and coerced to confess. Some have recanted. Some had dates wrong. I’m not passing judgment on JS. I also think it’s very suspect that he was in shower alone with a young man. I think he’s guilty myself. Only js, kid and McQuery know the truth.

JoPa is not involved in any of it. Get it?

You said “JS is probably guilty “ you pedophile apologist. You have a history of defending pedophiles.

      why did you say “probably”?

There was plenty of evidence that Paterno knew what  was going on. It doesn’t need to be rehashed. Stop believing every tweet you read. Think man think !
There was a trial and Sandusky was convicted. Not PROBABLY GUILTY. BUT JUST GUILTY.

The State Police Report: A Pennsylvania State Police report unsealed years later details McQueary’s account. According to the report, when McQueary told Paterno about the incident, Paterno explicitly mentioned that this “was the second complaint of this nature he had received” regarding Sandusky.

Jees Pasadena, the second line of your post:

“I think JS is probably guilty. Actually. Shouldn’t take showers with young men/kids after hours and not get in trouble.” Those were YOUR words, apart from defending JoePa.

9/10 have not recanted. I’d say 90% is pretty strong, and based on the redheads’ original testimony and feeling sick to his stomach, he may not have fully grasped the details but sounds pretty obvious what did happen was gross. As for JoePa, the FBI did an independent investigation and found ” football coach Joe Paterno, along with Spanier, Curley and Schultz, had known about allegations of child abuse by Sandusky as early as 1998, had shown “total and consistent disregard…for the safety and welfare of Sandusky’s child victims”, and “empowered” Sandusky to continue his acts of abuse by failing to disclose them.” I’ll lean towards the FBI’s findings over PSU fans personally.

My thing with JoePa is mainly this – he says he was told of the accusation of JS showering with a kid in 1998, yet Sandusky still had access to the PSU facilities at least in 99, including the showers. Even after he retired. JoePa was still the head coach, knows some of these accusations BY HIS OWN ADMITTANCE/ TESTIMONY – yet he doesn’t kick Sandusky out of the facilities? That’s the big rub for me. You hear this shyte and yet he still has access to the showers? F that. That’s enough to me to say he didn’t do enough. If someone said they saw my cousin behaving inappropriately with kids I wouldn’t let him anywhere near my house, period. No ands ifs or butts. Not sure what is so hard about that. Okay, you reported it and did your part. Fine. But letting JS hang around and bring kids to the facilities? Hell to the No.

McQueary told Paterno in 2001 not 1998.  Sandusky was no longer on the coaching staff.  Get that straight.

Red heads was in 2001. But there was a showering allegation that JoePa admits he was told of in 1998 and another in 1999. Both he says he knew of.

I’m not even addressing an unproven allegation in 1976, but there were two that JoePa was aware of.

There is no way that you can convince me that a HC as strong as JoePa couldn’t tell the powers that be that he didn’t want him in the facilities? He’s not expected to be there 24 hours, of course. But no way JoePa could not kick him out.

You have proof of this of other shower incidents?

        I know of McQuery one.

And the other from years before from the guardian of a child that was later investigated and dismissed.

you have two more???? Please share.

ive read a lot on this

As for kicking him out of the facilities that is a fair call/point.
even for someone retired. But the appointment came from BofT. That’s a powerful group and we’re JoPas superiors. You get that??? JoPa still had to follow organizational structure when “off the field”.

but you know what didn’t happen. JoPa didn’t COVER ANYTHING UP!!!!! That’s the point.

I think we are closer to agreeing than we think PT. The link from the Washington Post mentioned two separate times that Sandusky admitted to showering with boys. In early 1999, before he retired. This is not as severe as the allegations by Red, but still not right and still both on PSU football facilities. And that is admitting to two that were alleged. Who knows how many times this happened without allegations. And that’s really my point. joePa knew about it, as far as corrupt and illegal, to me that is the police and JoePa’s bosses. As far as enabling by allowing JS on campus, to me that is also on JoePa. Different levels, one legal and one moral. But like I said, no way my cousin is allowed in my house even if he’s my wife’s favorite after he admits to showring with boys, much less in my house.

I get that by and large. But it’s kind of superficial but at same time detailed lol. I’ll try to explain as the wording kind of confusing to me as well.

ncaa adopted JoPa’s actions as protocol after this incident. im talking McQuery one. The others, idk, who and what was shared. Based on JoPas actions he didn’t wait to handle and immediate raised the incident up the flag pole. Why would he not do this before? That would be inconsistent

the early incident was investigated and dropped.
what is JoPa supposed to do there?

these other incidents I am not aware of so I just can’t weigh in

unfortunately JS had a cover story. Not a great one but a story. And again a shower is not rape. Rape is rape. And without witnesses it gets grey quick. That is a legal reality. And those witnesses are not air tight at all. Again unfortunately.

i can easily separate JS  and his cases vs JoPa who had a lifetime of doing great things.
I am NOT defending JS. Pennsylvanians did that too many times.

        I’m defending JoPa!!!!

Ok, I can answer some of that.  Sandusky was given emeritus status by the Board of Trustees and the Provost Rodney Erickson.  Paterno had no say in keeping Sandusky out of Penn State’s facilities.

Sandusky was also no longer on Paterno’s staff so you expect a 75-year old coach of a major college football program to keep 24/7 tabs on a former employee?

I’d appreciate an honest answer to that.

This is actually a well informed argument.
but it’s not complete. The 1998 incident was a complaint from a guardian or a mom of a kid.

the boys group or orphanage (First mile) was told about it. They called the police. Interviews were had and the FM Board and the police DECLINED to press charges and deemed it a misunderstanding. Should JoPa not honor that process and decision? Blame the investigators. I 100% agree with that. And yes false accusations happen. Sadly. If I was ever falsely accused I would hope my friends and colleagues would stand by me.
        as would you.

btw I don’t know all the ins and outs of every accuser. Your point is valid. But again more then one has recanted. More then one got the dates wrong and we’re still allowed to testify. I am not here to defend PA legal process and for sure NOT JS. Im defending an innocent man, JoPa.

again JS has NOTHING to do with JoPa, his legacy or his statue.

I will say this, JoePa’s bosses have much more culpability than him no matter what else we believe. Their “guilt” is nowhere the same level as JoePa. I don’t put JoePa on the same level as them and I don’t accuse him of covering up. I also say that the kids’ charity was negligent and that the cops and authorities definitely didn’t do enough. The police concluded at the time of late 90’s accusations that Sandusky showered w/ kids – his own admission. But did nothing other than tell him not to do it again. That’s much much worse than joePa – so don’t put words in my mouth there.

I just say that he knew Sandusky showered with kids twice at the football facilities by early ’99 – documented – and he was big enough to make sure that Sandusky shouldn’t be on the football facilities. Who do you think had more clout – JoePa or Sandusky? I don’t care if JS was a board member or not – JoePa could have gotten him off campus.

      • #16701
        saturdaysarebetter

Wrong.  Paterno didn’t want Sandusky to bring kids from The Second Mile to Penn State due to liability insurance issues.  He had no say or power in keeping Sandusky, a non-member of his staff at that point as he was given emeritus status by the Board of Trustees, off-campus as I pointed out earlier.

The authorities and government never investigated The Second Mile.  How about that!  Can you say politically connected and protected???? The incestuous ties between The Second Mile and the members of the Board of Trustees and PA Government could not be exposed so they threw Paterno under the bus to take the spotlight away from any possible investigating in that direction.

Idk the why as to why they hired expensive lying crisis manager Freeh and threw JoPa under bus.

I heard it was jealously and the fact the guy wouldn’t retire. But yeah too many decisions to not protect kids were made to not be skeptical. And the fact they were so easy to throw away JoPa’s 50 year legacy was telling. Seems like they had something to hide for sure.

only one in the process with integrity was JoPa.

him admitting he should have done more was a good man speaking about sad days. Only the most humble would ever admit to it even if not personally culpable. And yes he prob regretted believing the police and the earlier investigators about JS as well.

Saturday, we 1000% agree on PA politics and the Second Mile and esp. the police.

Do you have a link about the board re. Paterno making a request to not allow Sandusky on campus and being denied? Or is that heresay? I provided a link that shows he had knowledge on the 98 and 99 showering admission, not sure if you saw that. Mentioned the 98 and 99 accusations. I do find it incredulous that JoePa tried unsuccessfully to get JS off campus. Most people in PA said he was larger than life. If this is true, even more criminal on the board’s part. If he did go the board I would hope it wasn’t just for liability reasons, given what he knew in 99.

Read the link. Sandusky admitted to police in 99 that he showered with kids on two occasions. There was bad stuff way before big Red’s accusations. If joe Pa wanted somebody out of the football facility he would have had it done. He was the BMOC.

Bo Schembechler knew Dr. Anderson was molesting student athletes for decades on campus and kept him on staff enabling him. He even molested Bo’s son.

        https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/31599673/bo-schembechler-son-says-father-knew-michigan-doctor-abuse

It was no secret at Ohio State that Dr. Strauss molested thousands of student athletes over two decades.  Woody had to know and did nothing.

        Copy. Thank you.

im gonna say this. And now it’s ringing a bell.

So JS the creep would shower with boys after working out and wrestling. Were they in different stalls? I think that was what he told investigators.def not condoning it and readily admit it’s a convenient excuse but what if it’s true? Or in this case how do you prove it isn’t?

you need the child to vouch for what happened. And that has proven hard without payouts and dates apparently.

Justice and legal process is not easy. Unfortunately

I don’t understand your point that JoPa

with no legal authority is more guilty then People in charge of 2nd Mile, Police, PSU President and PSU AD.

as the NCAA later said, what JoPa did was adopted as recommended protocol? I mean the irony is thick

Same stall, and alleged touching of genitals. Admitted to police and JoePa made aware in 1999. Two separate times, admitted by JS to police.

Well before Red, but also before Sandusky’s retirement. Again, not my “I thought I heard” opinion. Documented facts.

This link requires your email address, sorry. But it is documented by authorities. And I hope I made it clear in earlier posts the level of distinction between JoePa and his bosses, not to mention the police not to mention the actual charity itself.

Joe Paterno’s exact actions in reporting Jerry Sandusky’s conduct to university officials, rather than conducting his own investigation, were adopted by the NCAA as their guidelines that athletic departments should not handle sexual assault investigations.

Now why would the NCAA do that if what Paterno did was wrong?  No one will answer me on that one.

In 2014, the NCAA released a handbook titled “Addressing Sexual Assault and Interpersonal Violence,” which stated that athletic departments must not manage, direct, or interfere with investigations into sexual violence, but should instead report suspicions to appropriate campus offices.

Paterno reporting the incident to superiors like Tim Curley and Gary Schultz—was in line with current NCAA recommendations and thus invalidated the basis of the consent decree that criticized Paterno’s response. Multiple Pennsylvania Attorneys General later affirmed that Paterno followed the law and did not cover up any crimes, further supporting the claim that his actions conformed to proper protocol as later defined by the NCAA.

The courts ruled there was no cover-up at Penn State.  That’s a fact.

And I hate to blow up all your pre-conceived incorrect notions. Paterno

“… as well as JS no longer being on JoPas staff (for 2-3 years) when shower incident happen” There were multiple shower scenes, and Sandusky admitted to the police showering with boys twice before he retired, 1998 and early 1999. He told the police that. Big red’s was the big accusation but funny stuff was out in the open while Sandusky was on staff.

A shower is not anal rape. Could be different stalls or different ends of shower line.

You get that? You have to be able to prove it. Or witnesses need to speak to it.

he 100% should have been told in no uncertain terms to never do it again. Valid!!!  But the early one was thoroughly investigated and “debunked”. Idk that sadly gives the creep another pass?

But do I call that a cover up? Or a pedo enabler?? I don’t.

Does anyone find it mind-boggling that Mike McQueary is totally absolved in this? Where is the hatred towards McQueary?  A six-foot-five 235-lb. former football player who could have walked into the shower against a defenseless 60+ year-old man naked???? He was the “ear” witness.

McQueary reports it to his father, and a family friend, Dr. Dranov, A MANDATED REPORTER mind you, and none of them think it’s serious enough to call the police. And yet they get no blame. A mandated reporter didn’t report it to the authorities!!!

Who’s the blame? The 75-year old football coach of a major university who is now the fourth person to know something happened as McQueary wasn’t explicit with him.  Shouldn’t all crimes on campus be reported to the head football coach???

As Malcolm Gladwell wrote in his book, Talking to Strangers, Paterno should have never been contacted.
