Keymasterwhen the offense is in the red zone, running out
USC does not have time for a game-winning drive so at this point, they need to rely on the defense on the clock is their friend I would think you force Washington. To hurry up

KeymasterI guess it turned out well for USC because what it means now is that Washington can only throw the ball so that gives USC a better idea of what they are doing

ParticipantNo, but had UW scored, USC would have had time for a FG drive to tie the game and send it to OT.

KeymasterWell if UW had scored on the first play? Maybe. From what I saw tonight USC could not move the ball through the air quickly.
I guess analyzing the down and distance before a 3rd or 4th and long allows you more time to figure what you think Washington will do and counter it. I’m not sure when I wrote that. I realized it was 4th down
but I think the way the game was winding down that the game was being decided right there. I’m a little surprised that with the Washington quarterbacks inconsistency and a shorter field to work with that they threw the ball into the end zone on fourth down. It was fourth and 10 or 11 I think if I recall correctly the ball was on the 22 yard line
I just would think that USC would probably be playing deep and there was a lot of room to hit a 10 to 15 yard pass at about 10 pick up the first down and at that point you’re Washington you have about 40 seconds left maybe 45 you either spike the ball and have 35 seconds left and one time out which allows you to run four or five passing plays, depending on whether you are inside the town or not
I don’t know- obviously it worked out for USC
