GNR at the Rose Bowl Last Night

Fun time. Anyone else go?

they played for just under  3 hours. They worked their buts off

we knew only half the songs. It was a deep play list

it’s true. Axl’s voice is shot but he gives it his all. He ran around like crazy. Prob 4 wardrobe changes.
they all worked. the 3 guitarists are in good shape. slash had 2 or 3 six Min solos-he’s a machine.

full house. All ages. All colors but prob 95% non tan people. lots of parents brought kids 7-12. There was a 12 year old boy near us who knew every word to every song lol

I didn’t realize that no one else on GnR can really sing? Maybe Duff Is workable? But yeah these aren’t the eagles.
no wonder axl’s voice is shot.

no stories behind the band or being from la or about the rose bowl. Just rocking super hard.

one political joke by axl. JD Vance would call this next song satanic. No one reacted either way fwiw. but no stump speeches or crapping on anyone. The bros were pros.

Ice cube opened. He was fine. I still don’t like rap. Weird pairing but it was passable. He did only 5/6 songs. Started right on time. 6:30 ish.

GnR at 8. Finished at 10:50. Then fireworks 🔥

so glad we went. On the field. row 10. Def in this video lol. Amazing Dinner at Javier’s then shuttled back and forth. Barney’s after the show. GNR fans everywhere made it fun. Fourth time I’ve seen them. Have to assume it will be the last. 🥹  we all got old. November rain is always my favorite fwiw. Axl on piano, the words & sound plus Slash’s guitar is just as too good

Nice spot!  I’ve been to the concert spot in Bend aka Heaven on Earth imo.

 

may I ask what would you recommend to

He did a few acoustic shows with Tim Reynolds for an album that is really good.  The songs are just the songs without all the jam band horns and stuff he does, which I don’t care for.

I just saw a clip of GNR on the news, they sounded terrible but it’s GNR live onstage. That’s pretty cool. I would have been good with “ Welcome to the jungle” and Sweet Child o’ Mine” over and over.The gay dudes were over at DMB.

Not a fan, but in the early 90s my old firm represented Stevie Adler, GNR’s drummer, in a suit against the rest of the band. They threw him out of the band (that is, the partnership) because …………………… he was doing drugs.

Sort of like the SEC suing to preserve the purity of amateur college sports.
