Love it. I miss 130/140 RBI guys myself.

I love the well he bats 3/4/5 so of course he will have more RBIs argument.

1) he still has to do it. If he doesn’t, he will no longer be batting 3/4/5. That’s the deal or he’s batting 8/9.
2) best hitters hit at top of line up for a reason. Sort of same point as 1 lol.

3) statistically guys hit the same with RISP as regular at bats.

I just dont know if that’s true. I guess it’s prob true especially over a long time frame (like years or whole career???) but month to month or season to season im not so sure.

and even if they did isn’t that a lame way to enjoy baseball??? Takes some fun out of the game to just reduce it to percentages….

if you really wanna go that route then you should value runs scored because actually runs is how you turn the number on the scoreboard

not RBI.

either way, it’s a dead argument you lost. it’s not a stat that’s valued   players return to the Main there’s no such thing as a clutch hitter. I already did the research and provided that online  the best clutch hitters in baseball history, bat about 10 points better than their career average  that’s not Superman that’s just an array of statistics other guys probably about 10 points lol big deal

 

and yes, guys have more RBI because you put the best hitters in position to hit when they can cash in that doesn’t mean they created the men on base. It means you put them in a position as many times as possible with men on base and they perform to their career stats

 

I have a Softball team we do the same thing we have a contest that rewards three run home runs grand slams punishes, solo shots, and home run outs  rewards being on base for the hr   not surprising at all that the top four finishers almost always are guys who bat in the top half of the lineup
