Last year’s team was heralded as unbeatable. Gonna win 115 and all that. As it happens their starting rotation was a mess much of the year. Their pen was a total mess. And during the season Pages, Muncy, Betts, Kike and especially Conforto (who was given about 120 games to start and fail) either were poor or had huge stretches of cold. Their backup catcher spot was a black hole as well.

Point is, that Dodger team did not live up to the hype at all. They won the west with depth, as they always do. Their replacement player is better than your minor leaguer you bring up. Their 7th starter is a 3 anywhere else. LA last year was hampered because in 2024, Sheehan, River Ryan, Gavin Stone, and a couple others whose names escape me when down. young guys. All at once. TJ epidemic So in 2025 those arms really weren’t there. Sheehan came back mid season and helped a lot. Eventually Shell, Sheehan Shohei righted the rotation and we saw an exciting playoffs. They still underperformed but won every big moment.

If 2026 is a simple return to form for most of these guys they will be lapping the field. Max Mookie and Freddie are aging. But they now have those arms returning and Wrobleski and Sheehan are young cheap and quality. Pages is off to another fast start. Tucker is better than I expected. Freeland and Rushing will be ok and now have more time to establish. Kim is a heck of a back up plan considering he should be starting. Tibbs is waiting in the OF wings.

Point is yes, this team is so deep. Healthier than last year. They rotate injuries as I noticed years ago and they abuse the DL the IL whatever it’s called now. I am sorry They strategically employ the IL DL.

It is a team still built for the big moments and once that should be playoff built. Now with their experience, that helps a lot walking into the playoffs with more playoff experience and games than any team since the early 2000’s Yankees. A team they should be compared to.

I think this team absolutely can challenge for records and be top 10 in a lot of areas. Treinan looks good again. Tanner Scott is back to being good again and Diaz is solid. If they have a bullpen and that rotation? How do you stop them?

The expert sites I see have the DOdgers penned in as a prediction for 100 wins. I am not usually a super optimist, very real. But I think that’s low. 110 is ridiculous territory and if you have the west locked up early no motive to push to 110 but I think they’ll be closer to 110 than to 100.
