Cross Ditka off your USC coaching wishlist

Dead at 86.  PT posted earlier he made a cameo in a Will Farrell movie as Will’s Dad.  He did not.

If you had kids you would know this.   He played Phil (Will) Dad’s neighbor.  Who hated Phil’s Dad.  The Dad was Robert Duval, who was also amazing.  Film should have gotten an Oscar or 3.

Ditka had a starring role, not a cameo in “Kicking and Screaming” which rates with Sandlot, Back to the Future, Elf, and Bedtime Stories as one of the greatest family movies ever.  If your kids play or played sports and you have not seen it you have missed out

In the movie Ditka had the famous JUICE BOX scene that the present USC team reminds me of.  Perhaps they can wear a Juice Box patch on their jerseys now.

Ditka is a football coach and yet his acting in the movie was first rate.  Mostly just played himself

Here is the trailer

I just watched THAT THING YOU DO with Tom Hanks and all that.  1996.  We are watching all these young stars and wife’s daughter says “oh that’s Liv Tyler”  I am like who?  She says that old dude from Aerosmith’s daughter.    So I am so impressed and I am like Oh, you know that young girl?  She’s like “uh, young?  She’s OLD!  She’s like I dunno.  50”  Looked it up.  49.  Man that one hurt.

Will Ferrell has made 3 classic movies IMO.  Elf, Talledega Nights, and Kicking and Screaming.  And the latter IMO was greatly made by the kids, Duval and Ditka.
