ParticipantAdd the Minnesota game to your 2024 list of blown 4th quarter leads and horrible game management.

ParticipantThat one was especially painful for me. Even with its loss to Michigan, SC came into the game ranked # 11 or 12 and there was a lot of shakeup in the Top 10 that day. Had SC just hung on to win, it probably would have jumped to # 5 or 6.
Would that have made a difference the next week against Penn State or the week after that against Maryland? Probably not but who knows. What we got were three bad losses in a row, after which the team played badly every week whether it won or lost.

ParticipantI don’t know the number, but Riley’s penchant to choose to go on offense if SC wins the coin flip probably is a major factor in those close 4th quarter losses, since by doing so the defense starts the second half and would more likely tire more in the 4th quarter than if the offense started the second half. That is quite a run on sentence but it does make my point.

ParticipantPete used to say that you can only win a game in the fourth quarter. FINISH was a mantra and on tshirts. Pete’s first season we lost a bunch of games in the last few minutes. Then the team and staff learned how to finish. Riley is still learning that.
This is the season we FINISH.
