Or just other college jobs?  I ask because Freeman of ND is not happy right now.  He’s not happy that ND got left out of the CFB and he’s not happy with ND’s reaction.  Apparently he wanted to play in a bowl.  And apparently he also thinks ND should be in the Big Ten and not independent.

He also appears to be the favorite for the NY Giants head coaching job.  One that he will now have a lot more time to prep for.

But the extension he signed last year comes with a $40 million buyout.

My question is whether that applies to all jobs or just CFB.  Like what if he wanted to go sign a contract to be in a boy band?  or to manage3 a Wendy’s?  Or be a DJ?

The buyout for a CFB HC leaving for an NFL HC job is generally a significantly reduced/token amount ($1-2M).  Agents and ADs know that would be a bad look.  The full buyout ($5-10M for most P5 HCs) applies to other P5 gigs and NFL coordinator jobs.

I would totally use this against Notre Dame in recruiting. When things don’t go their way, the example they set is quitting. They throw a temper tantrums. They turn on their partners they threaten revenge.

And all those seniors who thought that the Stanford game was going to be a warm-up for the playoff or at least a really nice bowl game just got shut down by their own school. Their leaders are finger-pointing, throwing tantrums, blaming people taking revenge really a good witness for a Catholic school.

      I definitely use that

Hopefully we find that this is the beginning of a cycle similar to what happened to Florida state when they threw their tantrums and quit a couple years ago
