ParticipantI found this interesting in how college GM’s role and position are turning into the NFL model. In the NFL the GM is #2 and under the owner. Heck, at Stanford and Cal, their GM are #2 and under the AD in their football power structure.
At USC, since getting GM Bowden and AD Cohen we can see how these 2 have had a positive effect on the USC football program. Together they are re-building USC back into a top FB program. Shoot, it looks like GM Bowden is the #2 man in power after AD Cohen.
What do you guys think about who should hold or be #2 in power, GM or HC? Also, who do you guys think is #2 at USC, GM Bowden or HC. LR?

KeymasterI think the GM runs the football program. Maybe the AD has hiring authority but I think the AD is in charge of all the other sports. I’m not sure if the GM can fire a coach. But clearly he has the say in NIL. Recruiting and day to day operations.

KeymasterGuessing he has the authority to
do all but hire and fire. But I also bet the ad deals with fundraising or facilities or sponsorships. Tv and radio deals.
I bet there is a lot the ad deals with. I just think the stuff that’s important to you and me falls under Bowden

ParticipantChip Kelly was a big old fat #2 for UCLA, I can attest to that.
