Almost 25% of teams. Next they’ll expand it to all temas with at least a 6-6 record. The playoffs will eventually include all teams and have to begin in early Spetember. Since fall schedules have been eliminated because of the playoff system, as teams lose and are eliminated, they will be assigned to play another losing team in a Bowl at designated HS stadia around the country. The portal will begin after the first game of (the playoff season), and players will springboard from team to team as the playoff season unfolds and NIL money fluctuates. It may transpire that players play against teams that they had previously played for earlier in the playoff season. Fans will struggle to learn the names of the players playing for their school that week. Players will be flying in from other time zones, studying the playbook on the plane, the night before The Big Game.

Color me not a fan of this. Eight teams in the field are plenty. Twelve are already too many.

To me, telling 3- and 4-loss teams they still have a shot at a Natty is rewarding mediocrity, even though the expanded field might be great for the juice box industry.

And no, I don’t think a 24-team playoff will lead to a significant increase in the number of marquee non-conference games. The Citadel and the Louisiana directional schools will continue to populate SEC schedules, just as the B1Gs will continue to feast on the all the Ohio public schools that Ohio State says it is required to play and the other FBS schools that play on Tuesday and Wednesday.

One more thing.  If the playoff field is 24 teams, you have to do away with conference championship games.
