Pretty wild! That was a bad loss to Northwestern following a humiliating defeat to UCLA. But still, to not give the guy the chance to finish the season is crazy. It’s a new wild era in college football.
Oregon State fired their HC today too. Portal and flip seasons are going to be spicy.,

Oregon State is the ultimate calamity of the Pac 12 break up. Jonathan Smith is a great coach who had Oregon State extremely competitive and sadly that program that has been cursed for about 70 years had a life. They come to life once every 20 years or so Sort of like one of those unusual flowers in Hawaii

Jonathan Smith alumnus sees the Pac 12 break apart bails on them takes their star quarterback, and the whole program goes to crap as they go from playing Washington and USC to a schedule full of Montana state Boise State, and Idaho

I’m really not sure that’s the coach’s fault

Smith starting to get a little flak from the fan base. I didn’t know Sparty had a fan base lol.

Ruehle if Nebraska continues winning is a solid bet, perhaps Manny Diaz. Guess he was popular as the DC at Ped St before he moved on to Duke. Maybe they make a play for Cignetti. Google him, he wins.

You would have to think Penn St already has someone lined up to eat a $49M buyout and Cignetti would be a good guess. But he is 64 years old. How long does he want to coach? He might be content at Indiana and will retire on his terms.

One would think Fikell at Wisconsin is next. I’m surprised he’s lasted this long.  Norvell on the hot seat?

WTF??? You have to be kidding me.  A month ago some had them number 1.

they lose a brutal home OT game to a fantastic Oregon team.  Many thought that might have been a battle for 1 or 2 in the nation.

they follow it up with an inexplicable loss to UCLA, but even then UCLA came around and Club Michigan State on the road. And State pen had to travel complete coast to coast to play UCLA and the Big Ten is proving that eastern time zone to Western time zone travel and back is hard both directions. Road games in the Big Ten are turning into no joke at all even if you’re playing a mid-level team   I don’t think anyone when the big 18 formed predicted the kind of trouble that a top team could have going to a Washington and playing going to a Maryland or an Illinois or UCLA and playing

I totally must have missed northwestern   Did the mildcats beat state Penn?

so you were telling me state pen went from number two in the nation three weeks ago to losing to Oregon a top three team losing to UCLA dropping out of the top 25. And then losing to Northwestern. Three games in a row. And then firing their coach of 12 seasons? With $49 million on his contract?

      this is absolutely bananas

I just explained it all to my wife.  She said I should have gone into coaching.  She could handle collecting $49 million for being fired.  Or me being fired

Sources familiar with Jedd Fisch say he has been approached by Penn State. 🤔

He is highly regarded and from neighboring New Jersey, but not sure he’s done enough to warrant that hiring.

Diaz couldn’t make it work in recruit-rich Miami.  I can’t see Cignetti leaving Indiana.  What he’s done there is already statue worthy. Why leave a no-pressure job for a high-pressure one?

$8 million goes a long way in Indiana. That was one of the worst programs in cfb. Like Kansas state before Snyder. The shocking thing is how fast it’s turned around. Took Snyder 5-6 years. This is instant.

Anyway even if he slips to 8-4 and they want to fire him in a few years he could walk out at 70 having made about $$55 million And he’s probably not going to coach beyond that anyway. So why take on psu? Hes already in the big ten and already makes huge money. 7-8 years ago he was making $120k
