  Texas is not great to be honest, unless you enjoy endlessly peeling your sweaty nutsack off of the inside of your thigh 9 months out of the year. That is how line dancing was invented, it’s just a way to do it without sticking your hand down your pants in public.

    Not according to Ladyboy. He thinks Texas is great. Wonder if he has ever been there. Texas sucks and many people who have moved there from California have moved back.
    
    Companies that want to reduce payroll costs move there because the labor force there works cheap. Mostly an uneducated labor pool.

  Worked in TX on a year contract. Frisco. Had to travel all over the state. People: vast majority friendly, nice. weather: miserable. Ice storm in may, hail fcks up your car. Never saw a harder rainstorm in the spring. I mean, park under the overpass hard rain. Summers are hot and kill yourself humid. Property taxes: abysmal. The state government is a joke. I wish the best for texans but i believe the state is irrevocably fcked by politics

    Being serious because I do joke around a lot, people don’t talk enough about the property tax screwing you get in Texas. Thank god for prop 13 in California. Imagine getting reassessed every year as property values increase. Thousands of old fuckers like the decrepit Squat, and younger low income guys like Ladyboy would not be able to afford to stay in their homes but yeah, no state income tax, ya fawking hoo.
    
    “Kill yourself humid” is funny because it’s accurate. Third world weather with third world electrical grid. No thanks. All these posts about how great Texas is on this board by a guy who lives in California. Don’t fall for the myth guys.

    Property taxes are outlandish in Tejas, practically eliminate the lack of state taxes benefits. Pay around $150 less for a home that’s 1,000 square feet less and ten years older in Texas than in Palm Springs. Ridiculous.
    
    Other than a complete lack of traffic on the freeways, and I would argue mostly friendlier people, it’s nowhere near as nice as Southern California. More drunk driving per capita in tejas from what I’ve seen. I guess if you lived here full time you’d want to drown out sorrows with some spirits.

    He thinks it’s better in tejas but yet he won’t leave California. So many people rail on California, yet here they are. I give Augie credit, he was a tejano through and through.
    
    I go back and forth but I know where I prefer and where I will retire. Spent 35+ years Ca, 9 tejas and the rest in Missouri (Kansas City). No place is perfect, but Southern California is my favorite, then Kansas City, then tejas. But to each their own. I just don’t get all the whining from people who stay. They always ask immigrants “if [fill the blank] was so good, why are you here? And yet they stay where they don’t want to be. Whining about everything under the sun but not getting off their asses and relocating.

    Exactly. I have had a few friends leave for Texas Or Tennessee or other states and while they mention politics as a reason, eventually they admit it’s economics. They didn’t plan their retirement well, didn’t pay off their house and now they can’t afford to stay. Sad for them.

    IIRC, Having an open container was legal until 2002. You couldn’t be impaired obviously but it was a thing back then. I tied a few on one night and the bartender gave me a ride home at her behest. When she got off shift. Classy gal. About a mile so no big deal. I definitely questioned my life choices the next morning 🤣 and apologized profusely to my wife for several weeks. Dem boys like their drink.
