      Long Beach Poly CB Donte Wright who was committed to Georgia since June 2025 has flipped to Miami. I really thought it would be Oregon or UCLA that would flip him.. He had an official visit set up to Westwood in May and Oregon in June. USC, the school that overpays according to LAD, decided not to enter the bidding. I think the  need at USC for a CB was not that urgent. New DC uses three safeties in his scheme so getting Williams, Johnson to go with Lang and Washington was probably a better use of money.
      This is the kind of guy that can be flipped with a bigger bag. Oregon should just overpay and flip him.

      Miami is making a strong run at USC committed WR Hale. They made a home visit this week but the bag wasn’t big enough. Let’s see if they increase the offer. USC immediately made their own home visit and reminded him of the no visit policy. Hale immediately re affirmed his commitment to USC.

      Texas making a run at another USC commit, Honor F Johnson.

      Ya I had heard from some people he was flipping to UCLA but didn’t buy it at all.

        Would have been great for recruiting momentum at UCLA but this guy is very business minded ( or his advisers actually)

        Still a chance, depending on team trajectory.  If UCLA can go out and get to 8+ wins (which is completely able to be done based on schedule), and get in the conversation on a regular basis I think you will see some big flips late in the process, this staff is showing that they are not afraid to go after the big boys.  If they can make something out of the “projects/long term development guys” they will be set.  There is some talent on the current roster, and it was VERY obvious that the last coaching staff did not put them in a position to succeed, so maybe a few position changes or tweeks along with actual coaching will pay off.  There is no Anthony Barr level guy, unfortunately, but who knows.  No one thought Carson Schwesinger would get off the scout team.

      Man what’s going on with UGA and their 2027 HS class?  4 top players have de-committed so far. Can’t be good for UGA and HC Smart.  I’m sure UGA will rebound and land a Top 12 2027 Class.

      To confirm, it’s not that USC overpays in general. They just overpay for CA recruits, namely So Cal recruits. And that’s all well and cool in my book – CLR is on a mission.

      Oregon just added another state to its growing list today with another verbal this morning – looking at 11 states represented so far.

      To recap that includes:

      Oklahoma, North Carolina, Arizona, Texas (x2), Alabama (x2), Oregon, Illinois, Kansas, California, Pennsylvania, Utah.

      Not a huge deal to recruit well bi-coastal, but again, if Oregon can generally avoid overpaying for talent, they can stretch their budget further.

      Up to #7 in the nation per 247 with but 1 CA recruit…..hmmmmm…..

      BTW would have LOVED to have landed Wright, but word is he was unenthused about sitting. Oregon has too much DB talent right now for him not to sit…..some problems are not the worst problems to have, I suppose?

        Nice try LA =8-))  re the Donte Wright not enthused about sitting, hence, not picking Oregon.  CB is not a position where game time substitutions never occur, and Oregon’s record of being blown out in the playoffs doesn’t support the idea that it has a shutdown secondary.  You should have gone into politics my friend.

      No politics.  Just truth.  There is already a plan for a 3-man rotation for our CBs (Finney, Offord, Ify).  No practical room for a 4th in 2026 barring injury.

      Our friend ChatGPT says otherwise,  my friend, GT2.  Too lazy right now to find social posts about how strong the secondary will be for Oregon in 2026, so this will have to suffice….

      CHATGPT:  There really is no universally accepted “secondary rankings” list yet for 2026 specifically, but based on post-spring projections, returning production, recruiting, NFL talent, and DB room depth, these are the programs most analysts expect to have elite defensive back units entering the 2026 season:

        Great reply LA, but I still don’t buy the “unenthused” reason why the number one rated player in CA didn’t choose Oregon.  I don’t question that Oregon had an elite secondary but it raises the questions in my mind of why did Oregon allow JMU to score so many points against them and why Oregon got blown out in the playoff loss?  Coaching?  Something in the food at the 6th Street Grill? LOL!

        Yet right after allowing all those garbage time points to JMU, Oregon kept one of the hottest offenses in the NCAA to ZERO points in the semi-finals.  One of only 3 teams to keep an opponent scoreless in the CFP since 2015.

        Go figure….lol

        And yes, Dan Lanning still has to figure out how not to implode in the playoffs….lol!  Even if it is to the eventual national champs!

        Not too concerned at this point.  He’s gotten better, and gone further, every season he’s been at Oregon.

        Still a young buck with only 4 full seasons of being a head coach ever to his name.

        I think the only place Oregon may regress this season is at TE….maybe in FG kicking as well — everywhere else we will either be better than in 2025 or it will be a push (OL and Safeties I see as a push, everywhere else I expect to improve, barring injury.)

        Should be a fun season, GT2!!

        Oregon is loaded with talent; no one I know questions that.  I’m just a Trojan fan wishing for Oregon’s demise.  LOL!
