just so lame imo. Just Not worth it. Sportsmanship still matters

I just wonder why? Could be a number of things. Any guesses?

I’m all in for trick plays.  Got to ? the timing and situation.  The 2 pt conversion and fake punt should have been kept a secret and only use it in a tight game.  These 2 trick plays were not needed at the time.  C. LR wasted 2 Xlent trick plays…  Cheers

He’s got many more and that’s the point. You roll one out at a time and as you do, you give people a lot to have to think about.

remember also that the reason why most trick plays work is that defenses overcommit to one side or one area of the field. And a trick play exploits that usually by sending the ball to the least occupied area of the field and most likely pretty quickly

so one benefit of certain trick plays, or even trick places is a hole is that they force a defense to be honest they force a defense to cover the entire field and when you spread personnel out from sideline to sideline and From line of scrimmage to 25 yards deep it creates a lot of opportunities for one on one matchups. A lot of opportunities to find holes in the seams.

so it’s not just that you were holding trick players to wait for them to work. You were using them to send a message. You were forcing teams to spend preparation and practice time with the possibility of what you might do. And with the inability to predict  you. they are forced to keep their personnel spread out and stay at home, which makes it a lot easier for the offense to do their job

At least that trick play worked but the one that did not and makes you wonder about Riley’s play calling is the Notre Dame game.

Why would you run a fake reverse option pass in the pouring rain? Take the ball out of my QB’s hands to let a receiver throw a wet ball is mind boggling.
Lemon probably hasn’t thrown a pass since high school and look what happened a fumble ND recovers and that’s the ball game.

The problem with the ND call was the design.

he ran one receiver as the option. Dude was surrounded by 4 ND defenders and it’s why Lemon crashed out.

call was bad. Riley short circuits on big downs. It’s crazy

but the design was just as bad

but my with JerseyGate is the deception. Just a bad look

On a macro level, it’s what makes CFB so entertaining. Swinging gate, flea flickers and my favorite of all: the statue of liberty, which if properly executed blows my mind.

On the specific topic, can’t answer, maybe riley wanted some danger points?

Riley is playing chess. He puts plays on film only to tweak the play or even fake it at a later game.
He has an inexhaustible bag of tricks.
