Watched USC chick basketball last night

For awhile.  Couple observations   They played 2nd ranked south car. A loaded team

USC played the game tight and even had a couple leads into halftime and briefly in the 3rd.

they obviously lost a lot w juju. Kiki and transfers but they’re going to be all right.

theres a huge gap in women’s hoops between the top 4-6 teams and them then the next level and the next.  USC isn’t and won’t be a top 4-6 team but will be in that next level.  Elite 8-sweet 16

USC will has a lot of assembling to do as they have many new pieces in new places.

Jazzy is smooth athletic.  Will be a star.  Had a bad game against south car.  I think she was too amped up and over did it.  Game didn’t matter but it does to a frosh. her poor second half allowed south car to pull away   That won’t happen in March

USC isn’t big enough down low but was more competitive with south car’s size than I expected.

Malia Samuel’s is far more competitive at 5’4 than I expected her to be this year.  Still. Her size makes her a role player only.

you’d think based on the final score it was a blowout   It wasn’t  it was a good game  tight game and USC ran out of gas and bodies against a more experienced established team   It was a great game to learn and measure where they need to be   Much different story if Watkins isn’t hurt   Oh well

USC recruited 3 of the last 4 top players but only one was on the court last night and she was playing her 3rd college game   Kennedy smith was a top 5 player and she’s great

I wonder long term how they play this because all these girls are the same size and many of them are all the same type of player   Doesn’t seem like there’s much size different in women’s hoops  everyone is 6’ to 6’1   Even juju is 6’2 and still a guard   Then you have the odd 6’4 player and she’s a center and not at all athletic  like lurch at ucla   So perhaps women’s game is one lurch and four 6 footers all playing position less basketball

Either way   USC will be good this year   Not elite   And yet with Watkins and that other one sumiyah?? Coming in their  future is bright
