ParticipantRead ‘em and weep if you must. Actually he is a freckle behind Sayin. If Maiava has a great game and we beat Oregon, he is in NY for the Heisman ceremony. Best tackler on the team too. #14 reminds me of #14. Gunslinger balling out, then the bonehead play. Both could probably play LB, Maiava throwing his body around for the team was crazy. He needs an outstanding performance in Eugene and who wants to see that more than Fraud?!

ParticipantBruddah Ballss, no question Maiava should make top 5 Heisman candidates. But, from most of the predictions out there, Maiava is ranked at # 9 or #10 or even not mentioned. These players are the favorite top 5, Sayin-Ohio St, Mendoza-Indiana, Reed-Texas AM, Simpson-Bama, Pavia-Vandy.
Maiava total O stats are better than these 5 QB’s. Go figure why he is not being considered by the media people. Freaken BS. If somehow Maiava and USC win the next 3 remaining games, just maybe he goes to NY (top 4 players)?.

KeymasterHe doesn’t have a couple years of pub to hype him. And his team opened the year what. 4-2? Lost two of 3 marquee games in October.
team isn’t 8-1 or 9-0.
Caleb on it because his team was 11-1 at the time of the vote I think

ParticipantBruddah Java, Sure winning records have played a huge part in the decision making by the 870 voters (6 regions = 145 voters) by sports journalist + every former Hesiman winners. But, the Hesiman was founded on the idea of the Most Outstanding Player . Voters have gotten away from that core qualification. Voters must be objective and many times vote for players from their region, BS.
Plus, if there are 2 or more players from a region will dilute the votes and hurt the players. Like the Penix and Nix situation from the same region.
So far there have been 13 Heisman winners from 3 loss teams, 2 from 4 loss, 1 from 8 losses (Paul Hornug, Notre Dame). The link is from 2018, so add in Jayden Daniels, LSU (2023) and Travis Hunter, Colorado (2024) into the 3 loss category. This graphics dispel that the notion Hesiman winners comes from a 0 loss to 1 loss team. 15 Heismans with 2 loss teams. I think lately 2 losses is kinda the ceiling. See the link.

KeymasterStill pretty uncommon to have a 2-3 loss regular season winner. It also depends on where the misses are. Hunter is different as his candidacy was based on his unique skill set.
you’re right about outstanding player however the last 25 years it’s become with rare exception. A qb award. So many original principles of it are gone
I would guess most of the 2-3 loss guys had to have either lost very early and then gone on a run. Capped by a national tv breakout game. Like Carson Palmer. Or maybe they had like 0-1 losses and the national fell in love with them and they lost one late.
I think Maiava losing two in the middle of the schedule and having no real national tv marquee performances hurts him. As does being a first year starter. I think most of the guys in that list except Manziel were pretty established players the country was familiar with as well.

ParticipantMaiava 1st year QB1 with little public coverage? No, USC has been on national TV at least 5 times (weeks). Heck Julian Sayin, Ohio St is a true freshman, 1st year QB1 and the favorite to win the Heisman. I believe he deserves the award.
But, no consideration for Maiava is total BS. I strongly feel there’s some kind of boycott, conspiracy going on with Maiava, USC and C. LR. I’m not saying Maiava should win it, but at least be in the Top 5 candidates. His almost blackout is shameful and a disgrace to the sports media people.
Alright, he had dat bad game vs Nebraska. But, he can redeem himself by playing lights out and win the next 3 games. If he pass for 300+ yds, 70%, 3 to 4 TD’s per game and rush for 60 yds + 1 TD dat should be good enough to get onto the Top 5 list… Cheers
PS. Anyone who watch USC 2 losses were not on him, but the D. Maiava played very well in those 2 losses.
