Participant3 of the top 5 preseason teams:
#1 Texas lost to 1-3 Florida. They’re currently 3-2.
#2 Penn State lost to 0-4 UCLA. They’re currently 3-2.
#4 Clemson is 2-3.
Penn State has one of the highest paid DC’s in football. He just got schooled by Jerry Neu. Tough one to process. Texas fans want Sark fired, Ped State fans want Franklin gone. I’m really liking this new college football format. I like upsets unless it’s USC being upset in which case I hate that.

ParticipantI was really torn watching UCLA-Penn State.
On the one hand, a UCLA win — or more to the point, a Penn State loss — benefitted SC. That’s the only situation in which I would ever pull for a UCLA win.
On the other, the possibility of an 0-12 UCLA season is just irresistable, a once in a lifetime thing.
Side note — are the fans on Franklin for misplaying the clock the end of the first half and not scoring as much as they were on Riley for misplaying the clock at the end of the Illinois game and scoring? Franklin looked overmatched through the whole game. Except for a burst in the third quarter when the offense scored and the defense immediately blocked a punt for TD, UCLA looked like the better team. How can that be?

ParticipantI was pulling for ucla the whole game. Penn State has been overrated since the beginning of the season and they walked into the Rose Bowl thinking it was a bye week and got slammed. I keep thinking of all those Penn State fans traveling to CA for a walk in the park and suffering a loss to an 0 and 4 team. LOL!

ParticipantYou poor, miserable, one loss team. Trade you!
You guys will roll Michigan this weekend, bank on it. Get those tail feathers polished, it will be pomp and circumstance come Sunday.

ParticipantStalker, I’m curious.
What are your criteria for rooting for SC? Are they any of these, or something different
–Never.
–Only if it benefits UCLA in the standings or rankings.
–Only if it promotes diversity or helps solve the homeless problem.
–Whenever SC is playing someone you hate more than you hate SC.

ParticipantIt is kind of simple, kind of complicated. I follow UCLA football very closely, as painful as that is. I follow what is going on in the news cycle for other teams that UCLA plays, or college football in general, but very casually. I don’t watch many other games with any interest really other than to kill some time, if I have it, and kick back a bit. If a USC game is on and I am just hanging around, I will watch it, but I am usually doing something else as well like smoking ribs or a brisket or in the pool and have it on outside so I flip through the games a bit each time I grab a frosty beverage. If I am in the house (if I am let inside, haha) I bogart the TV in the den/kitchen just to make sure the wife and kids won’t turn on something stupid like Dance Moms while I am in the room. But I have to be smart about it. We all have that “line in the sand” of football watching time where it goes from “Oh you work so hard and provide so much for us, we are thriving because of you. Please by all means, kick your feet up, have a drink and enjoy yourself, can I do anything to make you more comfortable” to “Get the fuck off the couch you lazy piece of shit and do something productive, can’t you see all the laundry I have done…blahblahblah”. So, in order to catch an NFL game on Sunday, I have to forego a lot of the college games that I really don’t care about, and USC is often one of them. Besides football, I really don’t watch any other sports outside of Hockey, and that is getting rarer and rare as well. I have a problem with dudes who watch it all. And then listen to Dan Patrick on the way to work, and Ugly Petros on the way home. I don’t think it is healthy to be that immersed in sport watching, and I really believe it is masking either depression or a major personality disorder. You can tell me what the on base percentage is of that dillweed the Cubs just brought up from the minors but you can’t tell me what is going on with the big sale you are supposedly working on with three days left to go in the quarter? Lame as shit. So, sorry to burst your bubble I guess, but I only follow USC at an arms distance. I know a lot of the stuff that is going on and love to throw a fast ball to the nuts if I am able, but that is the extent of it. USC football doesn’t really matter to me in the big picture.
