      This was easy.

      Top 2 HC’s.  #1  Pete Carroll.  #2  John Robinson

Bottom 2 HC’s.  Paul Hackett.  #2  Ted Tollner.  Some would put Larry Smith in dis list, but not me.  He produced some of USC’s best D’s.  He had a bad personality, did not go well with media, players, parents, HS coaches. Big downfall did not recruit well.

Coach dat is not a good HC’s and not a fan of, Lincoln Riley.  Great O mind, but his D has been his downfall.  He hired one bad DC and 2nd one decent DC in his short time so far at USC.  Let’s see if his 3rd hire, DC Patterson will save his arse.

I think Lane Kiffin had da potential to be one of USC’s great coaches.  Great O mind. given more time he would have put USC back on top.  Too bad he was so immature when he was HC at USC.

Larry Smith’s personality rubbed people the wrong way but he was a solid coach. Recruiting fell off and he didn’t leave a lot of talent but he had some good years and as you said some really good and physical defenses.
