Mexican Chief of Security Omar Harfuch announced that Ryan Wedding turned himself into the US Embassy. And so ends this chapter of the story for this drug trafficker. In typical exaggeration Kash Patel called him a modern day Escobar and Chapo. Not even close. Escobar was sending 70-80 tons of that beautiful white powder PER MONTH to the US. Chapo was charged with trafficking 200 tons but it was likely much more. Ryan Wedding was sourcing cocaine from the Sinaloa cartel ( Chapo and his sons) and not directly from Colombia. He was more of a middleman trafficking a significant amount but not Mexican Cartel type volume. How much cocaine can our druggies consume? Good grief.  That is enough blow to ruin a lot of septum’s. Add Marihoochi, Fentanyl, Heroin and the US is a drugged up country. Sad.

Why did he turn himself in and why to the USEmbassy? Wedding was living in Mexico City where the Sinaloa Cartel has many operatives. A top Sinaloa chief was killed in a Mexico City restaurant in December 2025. Wedding may have been in fear for his life and cut a deal with the DEA. The DEA has agents working out of the US Embassy inMexico City. Don’t be surprised if he cuts a deal in exchange for information and testifying against the Cartel. It’s how it usually works.

      Why is this interesting?

It’s interesting because he was a major cocaine trafficker under the protection of the Sinaloa cartel who smuggled mass quantities of cocaine into our country for many years. Getting him off the streets is a big win.

And, President Trump stated he is going after the Mexican cartels.  Why not just have a bombing campaign of fire incendiary type bombs and burn down the cocaine fields?  With sophisticated drones can’t the USA tract Mexican land shipments and shoot them down like the Venezuela sea boats shoot downs.  Plus bomb the cartels homes and warehouses.

I’m trying to find out why this is interesting because I assume that stories like this happen every day.

I find it interesting because I’m like an old wine aunt that thrives on true crime. Seriously though. The dude is a canadian citizen as far as i know and i’d like to see the political machinations behind allowing a canadian to be arrested by the US and who folded up north(and down south) I haven’t heard a peep of outrage from our friendly neighbors. And to balls’ point why turn yourself into the US and not Canada. Plenty of canucks down south, and probably more lenient in canada on drug crimes. At least from everything i read and remember he was trafficking through the west to canada. There was that murder for hire of a federal witness (alleged) so maybe that was the spark. Worth a discussion.

Like any Canadian, when it matters, you go to the US and get it handled there instead of the wasting aboot under the weak, feckless government of your pansy homeland.  Maybe he wanted to see the Stanley Cup or something once in his life before dying in a cage.
