You can cherry pick your own schedule. You can make sure you have a bye or a Air Force in front of USC while they play Michigan the week before you.
You can front load the two games most likely to lose at the front end so you have max time to recover.
BUT
you better go 11-1. Or 12-0.
Because if you think you’re going to go 10-2 and we are going to pick other 10-2 teams who were told to go play Ohio State and Penn State? Or like Michigan who has to play Ohio State, Penn State, USC? or Oregon or IU who have to play each other and USC and Ohio State and do so where and when the conference tells them? Then think again. you don’t get the same treatment or equal footing when you pick and choose where and when and whom you play. So if someone else has the same record or a far tougher schedule? Well, go join a conference if you don’t like it. And no, cherry picking your way through the parts of the ACC you want to play doesn’t count.

ParticipantI agree with the spirit of your post but they got fawked. Bama DID NOT deserve a spot. ND is a top 6 or 7 team right now. FACT. Jewlane and Holly Madison suck ass (unless they are playing Riley).

KeymasterTulane and Dolly Madison are in because for years the Group of 5 complained and threatened to sue. So they had to make a mechanism for them to get in. And so two got in. I think everyone expected 1. But two it is. I don’t think they are two of the 12 best, but those are the rules. Also can argue it’s good to be the 5 or 6 seed and play one of them.
Anyway. The Committee would rather have to answer to one school griping than a whole conference. They didn’t want to punish Bama for playing in a CCG when ND not only didn’t play or play in one, those lazy slugs didn’t even have to play a conference SCHEDULE
So there it is. Rather deal with ND whining than a whole conference.

ParticipantFair points but that’s not the goal. The goal shouldn’t be politics. The should be to get the best teams. ND is EASILY one of the best teams.

KeymasterDang played three teams that could beat them this year. They arranged where they would be on the schedule. And who they played before and after them. And they beat one of those three teams. They have two losses teams with two losses should not be national champions. You can cry for them all you want. I’m sure you like them better than USC anyway so make their case all you want I’m happy to see them get screwed

ParticipantMessage to you, “Java” – wake up and smell the coffee. The system is rigged. But keep thinking Riley will get you close to a playoff spot and if he does, you’ll feel the pain of an outsider when push comes to shove.
