KeymasterThe announcer generously offered that the kid tripped over the qb.
Watch it again their feet never touched. I think it’s a classic case of your brain moving faster in that 4th and 1 situation than your body. He took the handoff. I think saw a hole and wanted to change direction. His feet weren’t fully planted to do so. I think he caught his right cleat a little on the turf as he changed direction. That artificial turf can really grab you. It’s why players joke about the turf monster.
all momentum was headed one way. he saw the hole open another. Shifted weight. Dragged toe or caught cleat and because he was shifting direction stumbled. Took one more step. Realized this wasn’t going well and then decided to dive. Except at that point he was about 3-4 yards away. A prime case for those of you who hate the shotgun in short yardage.
what a way to end. Two amazing games I flipped back and forth through. USC and dodgers were both losing late. I tried every combo of jersey and hat between the two teams. And had both flags flying out front. Finally found the right combo. So you’re welcome folks.
feel bad for the kid and for raiola but my gosh what a horrible game Maiava had. He was throwing like he was drunk. Absolutely his worst game as a Trojan

Participant<p style=”text-align: left;”>Every game last year looked like that. Tonight was a continuation. Awful footwork. Hitch in his arm motion. Last night he also had really, really low energy and awful body language.</p>

KeymasterAnd yet Longstreet isn’t the starter. As you said he’d be by now. Wrong again
I think last night‘s horrible performance was a combination of 3 things
the first and most obvious is that he made no fewer than about six putrid awful unbelievably bad throws. if he doesn’t he’s got another 60 to 90 yards and a decent game and USC probably wins by two touchdowns
the second is that Jacobi Lane play like he was drunk and dropped passes and would not fight for the ball on several other targets in the holiday bowl against Louisville. He would go up in the air. He would fight for balls and we have seen that in 2024 also. But in 25 he doesn’t fight for the ball anymore. I honestly don’t know why. I’m not sure if this is a Chad Savage thing or what. But Lane this year has been awful. And it wasn’t just him they had a couple of other wide receiver and tight end miscues I would say this would be another five or six passes that Maiava finally delivered accurately, and his receivers screwed up on the other end
so at this point, we are up to 10 or 12 passes but in a normal setting are completions and USC has now lost 100 to 150 yards and several drives. I don’t know the explanation or the answer
the third thing I would say is that they said Nebraska’s defense was very sophisticated. Shifted looks a lot pre-snap and confused offenses. That it was a very NFL oriented defense. The statistics nationally indicated I think they were a top five or top 10 defense and they were playing at home on turf in cold weather so perhaps you added it all together and that affected things as well
one thing that was clearly true was that the USC passing game last night was as bad as I have seen it in several years. The fact that they won the game on the road with the passing game being that horrible was very impressive. But I am concerned because on the heels of the Notre Dame game that is a big problem and I think you can almost write it in that they are going to get destroyed when they play at Oregon

KeymasterNot sure how he would have bumped him on the back. I was looking at the feet. If you’re running forward I’m not sure how much damage your qb being behind you can do
