ParticipantIn case anyone is wondering, this is about the school accepting tuition money for 2 students. The money came in from a third party ( not the parents) who is in Mexico and is on a US sanctioned list.
The two students were enrolled at the sports school between 2018 and 2022. The release and reports do not share the students’ information or what sport they played. However, tuition amount was disclosed, which was between $97,867 to $102,235 per academic year.
Unbelievable how expensive that school is.

ParticipantReason for $100 K tuition, it’s a boarding type school + meals. Read dat IMG get big time sponsors (Nike, Adidas, Gatorade, Coke, Pepsi, Puma, Under Armor and others + wealthy boosters type moola. Shoot the FB players get a full ride, free. IMG teach academics (must hold at least a C average grade) + real world stuff (NIL, banking, personal financial matters, human relations, sex education, etc). The student athletes have really long days, regular school, practice, other stuff going well into the night. Many kids drop out… Cheers

ParticipantIMG is Jerry Maguire 2. It’s where he starts a school for the athletically gifted. International Management Group.600 acres on gulf side near Tampa.
Ari Emmanuel and Lauren Sanchez’ ex Whitesall (sp ?) of Endeavor and/or William Morris Bought it and then eventually sold to a PE group out of Hong Kong. Endeavor also owns or owned WWE and UFC. Kind of weird back story
IMO.
cartels need to launder their money. Is there more to this story?

KeymasterDidn’t that start out as the Nick boletare Tennis Academy? I’m sure I have the spelling wrong. I think the first person that I ever heard of coming out of there was Andre Agassi. Whose dad I think was a rich Armenian and wanted his son to be a tennis prodigy Armenians aren’t an interesting group. They are either extremely ethical. First Christian nation on earth and still proud of that type people or the other group of them are slimy Middle Eastern nurse who, after you shake their hand, you need to count your hand to make sure you still have all five fingers Generally, the ethical ones come from Fresno. Which is the largest Armenian population on earth I think, even including Armenia these days or maybe it’s the largest outside of Armenia And most of the slimy Middle Eastern, dishonest ones come out out of Glendale If you’re from Pasadena, you probably know all this

ParticipantBruddah Java, C. Nick Bollettieri had a beautiful tennis facility, the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, 1978. 1987 IMG made him an offer to buy his tennis facility (40 acres) for about $5 M; Nick took their good offer. He was only making about $300 K net profit annually. So this was a good deal for him. IMG hired him to head their tennis academy as director for $300 K per year.
Check this out IMG bought up a lot of land surrounding the tennis facility, adding 410 acres = 450 acres. In 2023 IMG sold their entire property to a Hong Kong Investment group for $1.25 B. Dang, what a good deal dat was for IMG.
Side info. Nick was a personal friend, whenever my wife and I visited Florida for vacation or tennis tournament, we would visit and see Nick. Nick was about a 4.5 USTA rated player. Somehow, he made his tennis academy into a big time, hot tennis training facility for young upcoming tennis talent + Pro’s. Nick really stress conditioning; he worked his students very hard. I told him to incorporate swimming and thanked me afterwards. Nick only charged minimal fees and many times did not charge a nickel. Nick was a generous and good Bruddah. Nick passed in 2023, 91 yrs young. I miss him dearly… Cheers

ParticipantAgree, they didn’t get fined $1.7 mill for overlooking where two students got their tuition money. Cartels have a money problem, too much cash. But how did the cartel get their money back? Laundering means the cartel got “clean” money back. Kids withdrew and the school issued partial tuition reimbursement? We may never know.
