ParticipantJust knowing UCLA as our big rival over the decades, here are my picks.
Top 2 HC. #1 Terry Donohue (20 yrs). #2 Bob Toledo (7 yrs). These 2 HC’s had solid W-L records. I thought they were very good HC’s & leaders. They produced strong D’s, one of the best in nation and put UCLA as top teams in national rankings. UCLA was highly respected under them.
Bottom 3 HC. #1 Deshuan Foster (2 yrs). #2 Rick Nieuhesel (4 yrs). #3 Chip Kelley (6 yrs)
I thought Jim Mora (6 yrs) was pretty good and did a good job as your HC.
Pepper Rogers (3 yrs) and Dick Vermeil (2 yrs) were very good HC’s but their stint were too short.

ParticipantBruddah Daystalker, I wanted to add something dat may strike a nerve with you Bruins, but as an outsider I thought C. Nieuhesel was a good coach. He made the O go under C. Donohue and was a very good QB for UCLA. What I liked about C. Nieuhesel was his calmness, composure during games. Although his W-L record was average, as a parent I would have my kid play for him. As a FB player I would play for him.
Even though I had hard nose, yelling type coaches and put up with their sheet, I really did not like it. When I coached my tennis students at practice or at matches, I showed control and calm applying my strong Christian values and faith. I coached & taught my students how to play calm and breathing techniques. I practice these virtues at home with my wife, daughter and friends. Yeah, you Bruins may dislike C. Nieuhesel, but I do not. Heck, I think highly of him as a person, coach and now TV sports anchor. I would bet da farm he was a great father & husband as well… Cheers

RWC
ParticipantHi Butkus, I’ve said this many times in the past about Rick Neuheisel. He’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet, a great promoter and can BS with the best of them. A good guy to have around Ucla except on Saturdays.
Head coach? Losing 59-0 to BYU and 50-0 to Sc, what more needs to be said. 🤷♂️

ParticipantHowzit Bruddah RWC, C. Neuheisel had a strange coaching career. When he was the OC for UCLA under C. Donohue he did well; you guys had a good O. He goes to Colorado, his 1st 2 years produced 10-2 seasons = 20-4, Xlent record. After 4 good years at Colorado, 1998 UDub goes hard for him, making him a $1 M per year salary, which was one of the highest pay for the 1999 season. He had one great year 11-1, but was only average after dat. UDub let him go for some stupid $2-$5 office pool betting. Crazy sheet.
Next, UCLA hires him, homeboy, but never got it going = 21-29 record. Do you know why he failed at UCLA? Cheers
