KeymasterOr if they have any sugar daddies. BYU has the crumble cookie dude. Michigan has Larry Ellison and also googles larry pages wife. Oregon has uncle dead man walking weekend at Bernie’s Phil. USC? Not sure.
but if they had unlimited $? Curious how they play this.
they just got 35 guys. Who replaced about 20 seniors and about 15 walk ons for the roster spots to get to 105 I think or 100. Whatever the number. Had thought Mc ree was in that group but maybe not since he just announced.
they have 15 guys this year who are seniors.
they just had 12 guys portal. Mc ree goes early and I imagine lemon will too. Maybe lane.
so they could either play next year with about 90 guys. 5 more than has been the number for years. And have a class next year of about 28-30. Or they could go get 12-15 guys in the portal and have a recruiting class of 15.
I’ve said all along I don’t think in the portal they get more than 5. 1 WR. Ideally marsh from Michigan state. And 1 LB. Not sure who else they’d really pursue nothing on offense. Maybe more DL. Though I can’t say the portal has been great for USC other than Caleb.
so if they only take 5 in the portal that means their recruiting class could be 25 again next year. Resulting in a lot of talent arriving in a short time.
riley arrived to a depleted roster. Helton was hamstrung by rumors and record for about a year or two. Then the last class was ruining as he was fired in game 2-3. Riley shows up in December. Class is cooked. Riley goes hard portal for two years so all those guys are gone now. USC chooses not to pay hs kids and loses Southern California and the trinity league while Ohio the state and U of zero pay up. So Trojans at the high school level had about a 4 year gap of talent. This year will be the first real reversal of that. And hopefully for them in 2027 they’ll do it again and find themselves with 50-60 high school recruits on a very young roster soon .

ParticipantUh Java, Fitzgerald, who made the All America team along with Lemon, transferred into USC last year. So the portal was great for SC at safety.

KeymasterWell it hasn’t been great at LB. How many guys have they brought in that failed there? Gently couldn’t handle physical teams. The kids from ok state and Oregon state weren’t much. The Auburn and bama lb didn’t play out. The state Penn kid didn’t impact.
the DL and OL portal kids didn’t amount to much. Though I will say with Reed at C I’ve never seen a center wander downfield 30 yards from the play have two long distance tds called back in a season due to ineligible downfield but reed sure did it.

ParticipantReed only did it once and it cost us a TD in the Illinois game. After O’Connor went down Reed did very well once he stopped traveling down field on pass plays, LOL! It was Tuanaunu the RT that cost us a TD the other time in the endzone reception by Hines. We have had other transfers that did well like Waymond Jordan and Eli Sanders, though their seasons were shortened by injuries. The Penn State LB had some good moments, though his ruffing the kicker penalty was a bonehead move.

ParticipantYou’re an insufferable excuse maker and a bore. Riley has had 4 years to build a roater and hasnt. He scared off TONS of good players and completely failed at recruiting. You think Indiana or JMU or Ole Miss had a bettwr starting roster 4 years ago and more resources to build on? You’re a failure loving turd.
