4.79 era. I find his 3 year $51 million contract. $17 a year. Curious. Why would the Mets do this when they could bring back Diaz for $23. Mil a year and have a known commodity. Popular with the fans. Trumpet intro and all that fun and fanfare. And a 1.79 era?
I realize he is $6 m more a year. But they’re both 3 year deals. Both the same age. It’s not my money but this doesn’t seem like a good met move
I forgot in my Tarik skubal trade scenarios that I was assuming glasnow would go. I was one of the first who saw the potential to get rid of him and I think people were shocked. He’s clearly injury prone. He has a high end arm but is brittle. And I think he costs LA $25 mil a year. So instead of eating that. Use his high powered arm as leverage. Trade bait. He has two years left on his deal so he gives someone value. And LA dumps his salary and can use the 25 mil toward a $35 mil a year deal with skubal.
I hear they are throwing in Xavier or zahir hope. Minor league guy with big upside. Ok. And then Sheehan. I don’t like that. I would really prefer they trade wil Klein. Or maybe wrobleski. Ben Casperius. River Ryan. I like Sheehan a lot and he’s ready to contribute.
a starting rotation of Yama ohtani snell skubal Sheehan and Roki would allow for depth being 6 men. And also high talent. As well as two young affordable arms all under team control for 2-3 more years. Assuming skubal only comes if they have a deal on the table to sign.
