LA DuckParticipantShould we try this again, since we all got it (mostly) wrong last time – and in doing so, did that sign an eventual death knell to bye weeks for the top 4 seeds?? Let’s hope so.
Not picking on you at all, Butkus51, as I think EVERYONE (broadcasters, writers, sports honks, fans, myself, etc.) figured the quarterfinal round would go chalk with the possible exception of the TT/Oregon game.
We now have:
#1 Indiana vs #5 Oregon
#6 Ole Miss vs #10 Miami
So 11 long years later my quacks are finally back in the Final Four!
Indiana is obviously the toughest team remaining. I’d like to think whoever wins the Peach Bowl between Hoosiers and Quacks likely wins it all….but I guess we shall see as it’s been a crazy playoffs so far where almost anything can happen.
Many of us quacks have always viewed NEXT season as when we will make our run to a championship (assuming Dante returns). So with this current opportunity coming a year early for us, it’s pretty much playing with house money at this point.
In my opinion I feel it’s very cool to see almost NO blue bloods in the line up, just the AP preseason #7 team (Oregon), #10 team (Miami), #20 team (Indiana), #21 team (Ole Miss)….no Georgia, tOSU, Texas, ND, LSU, Alabama in sight. Speaking of which, should we officially do away with any pre-season prognostications until, say, mid-October? 🙂
My predictions:
Color me a homer, but I think Oregon finally puts together a complete game (offense + defense) this 3rd playoff game and beats a very formidable Indy team. tOSU was super motivated to beat Oregon in the Rose Bowl after losing to them in Autzen last year. Hoping my quacks can leverage that kind of attitude when playing Indiana on Friday night.
I also think Mario’s in-game coaching shortcomings rear their ugly head vs Ole Miss, sending the Rebels to the national championship game. No Kiffo, no problemo!
With all that said, I assume I will be 100% wrong and it will actually be Indiana vs Miami for all the marbles….lol

ParticipantI think Fraud has it right, Indiana will be tough to beat.
Oregon has a great defense, and will hang in there with Indiana but not enough weapons on offense.

ParticipantThe CFP tournament is extremely hard. It’s a physical competition that requires good preparation & being in A+ condition, coaches and players making proper adjustments and having a killer mindset (strong mental game). Yep, Ole Miss, Miami, Oregon had all these things going. Indiana had it all season, just an amazing team.
But, in any tournament, after each round the winning teams must regroup and put it all together again. Let’s see how the 4 winning teams play in da semi’s and able to hold onto their winning formula.
PS. Remember TCU 2 years ago, they won a hard game vs Michigan in da semi’s. Then in the finals got smoked by UGA 65-7. TCU did not have anything left after the Michigan game. Heck, tennis tournaments are very tough, I’ve played many over da decades. Shoot to win one is very hard, making da semi’s is a feat… Cheers
Here are my picks.
#1 Indiana over #5 Oregon, 27-17. It’s gonna be a fierce, hard hitting game by 2 very good teams. I’m picking Indiana because they have the right stuff to win da NC and it’s their destiny.
#6 Ole Miss over #10 Miami, 31-23.
Then in the finals, I pick Indiana over Ole Miss, 34-31 to win the NC.

LA DuckParticipantI agree with you, Butkus51. Makes so much sense to pick Indy over Oregon for a lot of reasons.
Should be a close game that really will come down to Oregon’s OL and how well they do in this one. Didn’t do great in the first Indy game and didn’t do very well vs Texas Tech either. Gotta see a ton of improvement there, or Indy will win this one walking away.
By choosing Oregon to win, I am expecting Oregon’s OL to perform much better in this game. But admittedly that is asking a ton…..we shall see….

TEEParticipantDucks are winning this out. Someway, somehow. Most talent overall.
if not Lanning has explaining to do. Losing to IU? A bunch of 3star guys and 5 yr portal guys. A QB who was average at Cal. Kinda dorky too.
ole Miss ? Yeah, they have the best QB in the Nation. But beatable.
Miami is close to Ducks on talent. But I don’t trust their QB to get it done. Mario is the best remaining coach though. Great motivator.

LA DuckParticipantWrong, TEE. No shame at all in losing to Indiana this year.
This is not your father’s Indiana team.
Still, you might be wanting to go live with your dabo_to_eugene.com website, TEE, just in case. No harm in continuing to lobby for this, although you might be the only quack fan doing so. 🙂

TEEParticipantLA. When are you going to stop making excuses for Lanning? Year 8? Year 15? Pathetic. Guys making $10mil yr. Top 5 NIL. Year 4. And he can’t beat a year 2 guy with a bunch of 3 star kids? Good grief.

ParticipantThat average kind of dorky QB from Cal also won the Heisman. He’s only part of Oregon’s problem, they have to deal with the Indiana defense and they’re a bitch to move the ball against. Good luck I hope the Ducks and Lanning get it done.
