TEEParticipantSame as JKS last year. I think he thought Moore was going pro. And the Ducks would have himself competing against Akili for the starting gig.

LA DuckParticipantHe saw the stiff competition in front of him and said sayonara. Much like JKS did last year, and headed off to Cal. Color it a good problem for Oregon to have.
Can’t blame either of them though. Don’t worry, Java, my quacks will be fine, money is seemingly no issue.
BTW was it really all that much better to have signed Longstreet and have him with you for a full year? Kiffin thanks you for paying for his tutelage.

ParticipantBruddah Balls, 247 rankings for the Los Angeles finals (20 QB’s begin and da finals = 11, but all 20 receives pts rankings). Jonas ended up #6, Beavers #9. Shaka, I like Jonas very much, but if we can get Beavers to replace Longstreet dat would be Great.
Beavers was a big surprise, he was a last minute invite and only a 3*. Normally, only 5* and 4* QB’s get invited. But some R service people called Elite 11 and said invite Beavers; and he did not disappoint. Heck, ending up #9 show he is a talented QB. After the camp, he received 4*, and Oregon striking out with 5* QB’s went after Beavers and landed him.

KeymasterYou don’t want two guys from the same class. What this does is open up the possibility for Sam huard this year and a 2027 qb

ParticipantBottom line USC needs to replace Longstreet with another top QB. A team should have 3 to 4 capable QB’s on their roster. Hopefully, QB Huard signs for another year as a good QB2 and with Jonas Williams getting acclimated to college FB and learn under C. LR O.
I strongly feel, the team needs to get a QB from the TP and former Oregon QB, Beavers fit da bill… Cheers

KeymasterI believe you already know who the three top quarterbacks are and it’s too late in this year’s portal to do anything and there’s no spring portal
I do think that they will bring in a 2027 quarterback and get a guy from the portal next year. The question is whether or not the portal guy they get next year scares away Williams
I agree with you about 3 to 4 quarterbacks, but I don’t know if that is sustainable in today’s world of college football.
if you are Oregon and you have all the money to spend. You still only get two quarterbacks because all the high school players leave and they just did so organs choice is to have two starting level quarterbacks who are willing to cover the next two or three years for them or cover an injury but nobody behind them and nobody they are developing so they’re going to have to start all over again with recruiting or just commit to buying someone every year
I really don’t know what you do to try to have three or four quarterbacks on the roster at this time. I’m not even sure anybody out there really even does

LA DuckParticipantI’m not sure there is a world anymore where you want to pay $MILLION$ to a completely unproven high 4 or 5 star HS recruit?
Just seems insane to me when you can get proven QB talent through the portal, especially if you are seen as a progrum that has a good offense, with a QB who is often mentioned in the Heisman race and a good chance of being in the expanded playoffs more seasons than not.
You can augment that with a few lower 4 star or 3 star QBs for depth, not be too heavily invested, and see what happens there, too.
BTW former 3-star QBs Herbert and Mariota approve this message.
