Bruddah GTrojan, I’m not sure if dat’s the way to go, but with the high cost of top HS QB’s (5* and 4*), maybe GM Bowden should not over bid. The list I put out the other day shows out of the 18 top college QB’s for 2025, there were on 2, 5* and 4, 4* leaving 12 QB’s 0 to 3 stars.
Shoot, look at Indiana’s roster there aren’t 5* and maybe a 3, 4* players, and yet they will most likely win the NC, 1-19-26. Chasing the 5* to 4* players may not be the right formula. You’re just creating more greed and less team oriented culture.
Heck, glad I’m not a college GM, dat’s gotta be a tough job trying to offer the right amount and satisfy kids perception of market & self value.
But, look at Oregon, Ohio St, UGA, Bama, Texas, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, BYU, Texas Tech, Texas AM, Penn St having big time budgets. Every year, these schools are highly ranked teams and get into the CFP. So, one can argue this is the way to go, chase and pay top $1 the top FB players… Cheers
