KeymasterCut Justin Dean, who signed with the Giants. Cut Tony Gonsolin, who had elbow surgery again in August and wont pitch until Sept of 2026. He was due for $5.4 in arbitration and LA said nah, no thanks for 2 months
LA sent Michael Grove after missing all of 2025 to the Minors, which means someone could snag him in the rule 5 draft but would have to roster him all year.
Exercised their option on Alex Vesia 3.5 mil I think Good value
Opted for now to pay Max Muncy $10 million. Surprising but they don’t have any better options and had to decide yay or nay right away.
Pressure building for them to sign Miggy Ro and Kike after those last two games. Kike has been above average defensively but offensively has been below replacement value for two years. He may be done. They do need room for young guys with bright futures.
They also moved two minor leaguers to the 40 man to keep them out of Rule 5 harms way. Ryan Ward who is a 1b 3B DH type. And another pitcher. Ortiz maybe?

troystoryParticipantThey have a lot of money coming off the books. They can sign Tucker but, though we need an outfielder or two, not sure spending $300-$400m it would take to get him makes sense.

KeymasterAs previously mentioned, Justin Dean is now a Giant.
Tony Gonsolin did not accept his assignment so he is a free agent
Ben Rortvedt was claimed by the Cincinnati Reds. Dodgers had hoped they could outright him and assign him to AAA but not after he played well down the stretch. Realistically their back up catcher is young. He’s a lefty. That’s what you want opposite Will Smith. Dalton Rushing. Not sure why Rushing wasn’t on the post season roster. Maybe because he was slumping or hurt. I don’t remember.
When I posted previously that LA had $73 million coming off the books I forgot Chris Taylor. So that is more like $87 million, except it cost them $4 mil to buy him out.
Either way not sure if they are looking to reduce payroll or going to spend all they saved. But appears they could likely afford a decent closer and a lF. I no longer see the power hitting 3B Japanese guy as a possibility. Always fun to find out
