They open the season knocking Clemson from the top 3-4.  LSU rises to a top 5 program and is ranked #3 after opening 4-0.

 

Since then?  L, W, L, L  Tonight they had a 18-14 lead at half.  Death Valley going crazy.    35 straight points from the ATM $$$ machine and the stadium is empty with 6 minutes left.  Loses at home 49-25  LSU us now 5-3.  3-3 versus D1 teams.  Unranked.  Man join CLEMPSUN, Free Shoes U, Tejas and State Penn as hard falls and fails.

Michigan has now won 2 in a row since USC, a game few give Riley credit for.  UM is 5-2 and beat up Moo U on the road.

Washington is good.  I told you.  They beat up Illinois, who had beaten USC.  Illinois had only lost to the two top ranked teams IU and Ohio State.  And UW has only lost to Michigan and Ohio State.  Washington is good.  USC beat UM who beat UW.

Everybody beats everybody  Except UCLA.  They look like UCLa again.  They needed that.

The biggest loser?

Big Time Vista himself.  Dude used to regularly list Steve Sarkisian, Deion Sanders, and Coach Blowin and going (who lost again at home today to Ole Mess) among his top coaches.

Riley has USC unranked mid way through his 4th year after the last two year of season long disasters.  What is happening at LSU or Bama (last year) or Venables (Okie recruiting base and joined the SEC) is not the winning argument you think it is.

Riley is paid $11M a year to win games at USC. And he isn’t doing it

hiring a HC is a big crap shoot. Heck no one wanted Pete Carroll. Even USC fans. Took Harbaugh a lot longer to turn Michigan around than expected. Situations matter.

BK is cooked at LSU, the administration there has a quick trigger.He is 19-10 in the SEC and got blown out yesterday by ATM. Yeah a couple of the guys on the board wanted to invest in gold and hire BK. Two bad moves as history has proved. Remember the rumors that Riley was LSU bound? Riley was their first choice but Riley wanted to live in SoCal.

They invested in gold.  I invested in tqqq and am trying to figure out how to avoid taxes on all that money I made.

LSU took Kelly. Gave him Riley money.  Made nd better.  Won a Heisman and not much else.  Actually has I think a top ranked recruiting class coming in but that will fall apart now w the speculation. Means USC can go back after that 2027 qb.

Riley is coming along slowly but it’s building. D is improving.   Top ranked class and large class hits the campus next fall with probably just slightly greater impact than most classes. And in 27 with Longstreet we should see a jump.  The question is how many more losses to nd.  UCLA or Oregon USC can endure before that happens

I realize that historically I’m always slow to turn on a coach, but I think Riley is going to turn this around. Eventually we will start winning the close games. If we fire him now we will be back to being four years away from being four years away.

Just looked.  And just as the teams have seen their seasons fall apart so have teams seen their recruiting rankings fall.

lsu. Ok. State Penn. Florida state and Florida at once time all had too 10 classes.  All but fu I think had top 5 classes.

none of them are top 10 now.  Interestingly usc nd and tx all have two losses and are still top 5-6-7 classes.  So two losses isn’t a total disaster there   But looks like the coaching changes or speculation at those other schools have really cost them.

atm has ri$en way up.  Georgia seems to be doing their annual late season push.  Bama too.   Oregon is 6.  Texas right behind them.  Then Ohio state and Michigan.  Tennessee I think is 8.

as we head into November USC has 6 weeks to hold this together.  Realistically these days kids can bail at any time between 12/15 and August camp.  But you feel a lot better if you sign the class in December to start with.   So the predictions back in February that USCs class would fall apart and Chad Bowen is fools gold. So far hasn’t played out that way
