Curt wrote the intro to a couple books I read.  Written by Todd Anton. The brother of Susan.  Dedicated to baseball players who went to war and served.  Curt is big in that area.  Honoring vets.  He’s ok by me.

I believe one of the books is “When baseball went to war”.  I forget the other one but similar.  Possibly for the love of the game or something like that.  Interviews with many vets.  Some famous.  Some not.    Mickey hatcher also was in it and helped Todd get interviews.  Many. Even most of the guys he spoke to are gone now.  Bob feller.  Jerry Coleman.  Vin scully ted Williams.  Johnny pesky. Yogi Berra   DiMaggio   Not everyone was interviewed   Some of the above were just highlighted and mentioned   Stories told by others above

I’ve  read a few books and what’s interesting is how some guys went to war.  Some went home. And how some others got out of wars in some pretty cowardly ways. Maybe I would have done the same.  Dunno.  But players definitely used their position to avoid combat or duty.  But others?   Some of them stars?   Like Ted?  Actively sought combat and just about got themselves killed a few times
