Yeah Bruddah RWC, Booby Moore (Ahmad Rashad) was a very good FB player, WR/RB, AA, All Pro-WR.  He played with QB Dan Fouts on a very good FB team, but USC, UCLA, Stanford were PAC powers.  I liked Rashad when he did sports TV, he was very good at his trade.  Even Fouts was a good TV sports guy, along with Kieth Jackson, ABC.

Other FB players from Oregon:  Norm Van Brocklin, QB, Russ Francis, TE, Mel Renfo, DB, C. John McKay, RB, C. John Robinson, TE.

I remember Russ Francis well, we were still living in Hawaii.  Russ was from Hawaii, Kailua HS 1968-70.  He was big, all muscles, cut too 6-5, 240 lbs.  Played QB and DE, basketball, track and field.  Soph and Jr years All State DE, Track & Field not dat good at QB or Basketball.  But, summer and before his Sr. year, the family moved to Oregon.  He was the nations HS top discus and javalin thrower.  And, was the NCAA champ at discus and javalin.  He was an AA at TE.  He became All Pro NFL as a TE, San Francisco.  His dad, Ed Francis was Hawaii’s Pro Wrestling Promoter (Big time money).  He sold the da Biz and moved his family to Oregon.  Rumor, he got pushed out by the Hawaiian Mob?

Back then Oregon was known for their Track & Field programs.  They have continued till today as a T & F power.  Many great runners, mostly long and middle distance runners.

Yeah, with Uncle Phil’s money Oregon will be a FB power.  His wealthy foundation will bring in top players every year.  But, I’m betting Uncle Phil must be getting ansy, he does not have much time left and still Oregon has not won a NC football team…  Cheers
