We gotta take this close, tuff road W (21-17), Big Shaka! Nebraska is a much improved team. Road games are hard.
Dang, QB Maiava played his worst game; something must have been bothering him in his passing mechanics (Off). 9/23, 39%, 135 yds, 0 TD, 1 IT, 80 QBR, D grade. But, he ran da ball well, 11 times = 62 yds, 1 TD, B+ grade. Every athlete will experience a bad night, hell Maiava had one yesterday. But, his Wr’s, TE did not help him. They ran lazy routes + couple drops (bad sheet), D grade. At least they blocked pretty good on run plays.
Bright spot was da run game = 214 yds, 2 TD’s, B+ grade. Da man was RB King Miller, 18-129 yds, 1 TD, A grade. As usual he ran hard, smart. Oh, and the OL played well, B+ grade. Total offense P 135 yds + R 214 yds = 349 yds, way under their # 1 rank of 520 yds per game, C grade.
The D over all played well, B grade. Key thing the D allowed Nebraska only 17 pts, B+ grade, under their average of 23 pts allowed. DB’s did a good job holding QB Riaola to 98 yds passing, B+ grade. The front 7 had an average game, allowing 188 rushing yds, C grade. The D allowed 286 T/yds, way under their 396 ypg.
Dam, Wr, Jakobi Lane did not play well. He is way too inconsistent and unreliable. At times, he makes unbelievable plays/catch. Dam, Makai was off too. I’m happy the team pulled out a road W. Next up is Northwestern, we should win dat game. But, next game is Iowa, Iowa is a very physical team our boys had better be ready and match their hard hitting FB… Cheers
