Anyone know what George Wrightster was talking about?

    in WildWest Football Board

He said a major west coast college football story will drop in the next week or two. Rumor is involved prepaid debit cards abd crypto currency. Said it would ruin the legacy of a coach. Look up Wrightster on Twitter he talks around it.

How many guys can he be talking about if he mentions legacy...Chip (I guess) or Petersen?

If it's cryptocurrency related, that pretty much rules out Chip at Oregon since that all didn't start until he became HC in 2009, and didn't really become big until about 2012 or 2013, after he had left for the NFL. Could be Mark Helfrich, no real legacy, but he has done something no other Pac-12 coach has done before--won a playoff game and made it to the championship game. That's gotta be worth some kind of legacy....at least currently, if not for long? lol

Likely not Shaw, theoretically could be Petersen, but he seems so squeaky clean....

One of our Oregon sources says it's more pac-12 related rather than specific school related....so who knows?

Doubt it's Chip or UCLA based on the term "balance of power." 5 straight losing seasons takes us out of that conversation.

@Conquest2000 I've read his tweets and all the comments now three times. Not much in the way of clues. He's saying a "legacy" will be impacted and that the "balance of power" on the west coast could shift. Make what you will of that. And in the link below he implies it is NOT an Oregon recruiting violation.

Doesn't sound very promising when you think about who in the conference actually has a legacy and what programs could even be considered as in the run for power in the conference.

Radio Host Promises Massive College Football Scandal From West Coast
Sports radio personality George Wrighster took to Twitter to share some news about a college football scandal from a west coast team

Either the most overhyped tweet ever or somebody's about to get whacked.

His radio partner gave the info about the prepaid debit and crypto but nothing more. I have a bad feeling we are going to be embarrassed again. Hope this is a big nothing burger.

@Conquest2000 I haven't heard anything on the crypto end, and it doesn't seem to be gathering steam or going down that path from what little I've seen. The more I think about it, smells like conference as a whole news and not individual coaches or schools, i.e. recruiting violations. Larry Scott - or big school AD's - plus the conference as a whole seems to check off the legacy box and balance of power shift out west. tejas and maybe A&M or TT coming out west and/ or SC and somebody else bailing. I lean towards a super conference. Don't see SC's admin having the stomach to do anything drastic right now. And the school's focus and success on other minor sports fits the PAC profile quite nicely.

If it was crypto that timeline is after the PC era and Helton has no legacy to worry about. If crypto etc that leans away from SC imho.

Sark back in the pac, anybody?

A lot of the people on BRO think it's UW based on how Chris Petersen kind of mysteriously resigned as head coach.

That would make sense. The two biggest coaching mysteries in the p12 lately:

The resignation of Gary Andersen from OSU (seems like it was a net positive for Oregon State--I predict Jonathan Smith will do good things there). Oddly, he also had a strange departure from Utah State as well...

The resignation of Chris Petersen from Washington (seems like so far it's not been a very positive development from a recruiting standpoint, but they did well during the COVID season, and gotta give any new coach time...)

@LA Duck I heard it’s something about UW.

Petersen did not 'mysteriously' resign at UW. He made it perfectly clear that he was done with coaching as saying 'I was concerned of why I didn't enjoy the 2018 Pac-12 Championship or the the 2019 Rose Bowl as much as I have should have'. Then news came out that Petersen didn't want to deal with the transfer portal and the impending NIL issue.

But you seem to forget that Petersen is still employed by UW in other capacities.

Funny, but this story most likely is nothing more than click bait from a worthless podcaster and many are falling for it.

Could be something but I wouldn't be surprised if it disappears.

@BigBallss "Allegedly" not the story, but rather tip of iceberg. Supposed to come out Thursday w/ more details.
