  This is a valid question. $20-$30M a year can fill or create a few more holes on a team.
  
  massive QB deals arnt winning SBs anymore.
  
  Mahomes hasn’t won since his new massive deal. Pretty sure. (maybe 1 right when it was restructured)
  
  Josh Allen has no D or WRers.
  
  Lamar and Burrow ain’t winning SBs either.
  
  The wrinkle (PT glaze of course but I actually do believe it) with Darnold is he’s a $50M talent with a $30M resume. Well he was until Sunday . Now he’s a $50M guy.

  With the salary cap affecting what NFL teams can and cannot afford, you make a very good point. Paying a qb too much lessens a teams ability to surround that qb with the talent needed and certainly limits the teams ability to get the defensive talent they’ll need to succeed.
  
  Seattle did a masterful job in juggling this situation. Can they convince Darnold to take less than the market would suggest in order to continue winning?

    No because if I am Sam I say I am elite. Pro bowl and win you a Super Bowl and maxed out my incentives. And I still am on a tr friendly deal.
    
    as much as that salary seems to you and me? He’s still not even in the top half of nfl starting qb
    
    So I think both parties should just shut up and go to their separate corners content with the deal they have. Sam has bonuses and a new lease on his career. Nice contract. Seahawks have a Super Bowl and can now sell the team at top dollar with a qb under contract tract for two more years at league average

  He’s a $33 m cap his next year $25 mil dead cap
  
  he has $4 m of incentives that could bump that. His cap hit is higher this year. But he’s still a bargain
  
  but when you’ve got rookies playing for what $5 mil a year? You can see why teams opt to go that route. A bo nix is a deal even if he’s barely above average. Which is about what he is.
  
  Darnold would be a $50 mil value if he cut down on to. Which he do when it counted so maybe so.
  
  Darnold is a $42 mil cap hit in 27 so I think the Seahawks are gonna get bargain year 1 good value in year 2 and probably moderate value or market value In Year 3

    Correct. The rookie deals are so damn tempting to a team.
    
    And Sam is the test case where moving on to quickly can bite you.
    
    Another wrinkle is when the team is drafting.
    
    the Jets being so bad Sam’s 3rd year (Gase WRers Division) had them going #2 overall. Forced a QB decision. They chose poorly which I said back on green board.
    Sam and Jmar Chase would have made some music & yes we have two years of info showing Sam with an elite receiver will produce. 4 if you count his USC Days.
    
    Carolina was almost worse. They traded a bunch of picks to move from 9 to 1 for Bryce Young or CJ Stroud. Another 1st and two 2nds I believe plus DJ Moore. They were lucky to get the draft capital right back the next year when Chicago wanted CAR’s #1 pick who had picked BY the year before. Could have killed this franchise if didn’t work out that way. I’m talking overall team roster not the QB position. BY is as good as any 5’10” 180 lb dude can be. I give him credit there. Just never leading a team to greatness.
    
    As we know, MIN had JJM from year before on his rookie deal. And MIN had big holes on OL.
    
    Always a story behind the story. I think part of Sam’s super power of no hard feelings is that he is an accountant at heart. He gets it. Yes This is sarcasm.
