And 3 of the top 5 are from the B1G.  Plus, make that 3 championships for the B1G in a row.  SEC – who?

      #1 – Indiana

      #4 – Oregon

      #5 – Ohio State

      #17 – Iowa

      #20 – USC

      #21 – Michigan

Wow.  Another top 5 finish for Ducks.   Translation:    Another failure.  No trophy.   No ring.   Millions wasted.    False hope.

oh , and Lannings getting another year.  You were so close Dan.  Just 34 points separates you from IU.     Freaking loser.   Leave.  Resign.  You’re not wanted.

lol….so just where can I get one of those nifty banners to hang outside of my house, BigBalls? 😉

No joke, when I was an undergrad at the UO way back when we had a couple of 2-win seasons.  Heck, our record while a student there was 14-26-4.  But 3 of those 4 ties were interesting:

        – USC and Oregon ended locked up at 7-7 at Autzen in my first ever game there in 1980

        – Notre Dame settling for an FG in the final minute to tie 13-13 in 1982 at Autzen

        – The ignominious 0-0 tie with Oregon State in the Toilet Bowl at Autzen in 1983

Yep, I’ll never look down on having back-to-back 13-win seasons (1o, 12, 13, 13 going back the 4 years since Lanning became HC) no matter how the season may have ended…

That 7-7 tie in 1980.  We’ve talked about that before, Duck.

I was in Portland to take a deposition the day before the game.  My first of only two trips to Portland ever.  Mt. St. Helens had just erupted for the second time that year and you couldn’t see the tops of buildings from the ground.  I considered driving down to Eugene on Saturday, figuring getting a single ticket wouldn’t be a huge problem.  But my wife and 5-year old daughter convinced me I had more important things to do in L.A.

Boy am I glad I missed that game.  The worst (that is, least entertaining) game I ever attended was a different 7-7 tie, between SC and UCLA in 1971.  That game was notable only for the “Westwood Sucks” card stunt.

Yes, I remember you mentioning that, SC Gator.  Good thing you missed it.  Boring game, although pretty exciting for us quacks to end up in a tie with a blue blood like USC during those utterly futile years!  Back then we only got maybe 1 game a year at Autzen on national television.

In case you are interested 45 years later…..here is that game in all its glory… 🙂

lol, you know I’m just messing with you guys. My team hasn’t even sniffed the playoffs even with one of the greatest college QB’s of all time.

TCU beat USC in da Alamo Bowl, 12-30-25.  And yet USC gets #20 and TCU #25?  BS final poll, loss all credibility.

I think the difference is that USC only lost to top 25 teams during the regular season, whereas TCU lost to 3 sub-top 25 teams and only 1 ranked team (BYU).

Both ended the season with identical 9-4 records, but even then I don’t think just because Team A beat Team B, Team A should automatically be placed over Team B in any rankings regardless.

I feel that justifies placing USC at #20 over #25 TCU.

USC beat Iowa, Tulane and JMU showed they didn’t belong and all are ranked ahead of USC. Bama moved up after getting smoked. These polls are a joke.

Agree Bruddah Balls dis final poll is BS.  Heck Texas Tech #7 should be #5.  Bama no way #9, I see them #13/#14.  Texas AM #8, nope #11.  The biggest travesty, Notre Dame who was not picked for CFP, they have a good #10, but I feel ND is the #8 team in nation.

TCU at #25 should be #20 and USC #21 and Michigan #22.  TCU beat USC period…

      Tee,

Besides coaching experience, what does Oregon lack that they need to win a title?
There are four active coaches who have won a national title.  Cig won yesterday and is 64.  Ryan Day was 45 last year when he won his title.   And both Dabo and Kirby were 46 when they won their first.  Christ even Nick didn’t win his first until he was 52

Lanning is 39 and just completed his 4th year as a head coach.

      lighten up Francis!

Three of the top five is impressive. Very much so.

Six of the top 25 is not, especially when the other three are 17, 20, and 21.

There are no more than 60 teams, probably fewer, that ever have a legitimate shot of landing in the top 25. For the B1G to place 6 of its 18 teams in the top 25 is not a big deal. For comparison, the SEC, which isn’t that good, placed 7 in the top 15.

AI should be involved with picking rankings and final polls.  Whenever humans are involved there’s too room for bias, corrupt voting.  Let a good computer ranking AI do an objective voting; dis eliminates da human factor in poll voting and rankings…  Cheers

No, thank you, to AI ranking the teams. Were you going to use the AI programmed by Paul Feinbaum or the AI programmed by some Michigan honk? Anyone who think AI calls ’em as it sees ’em needs to be talked to.
