Why was the db allowed to come up and put hands on the wr and drive him back before the ball ever got there. ?

it was not a backwards pass

are the rules different because he’s behind the line?

It’s not PI behind the line.   But it looks like holding to me

Well yeah you can just go tackle anyone behind the line?  Cool. Line up and take down the slot man.  Tackle the rb coming out the backfield.  There has to be something that prevents this.  If you don’t have the ball you can’t just take someone down. I don’t care where you are.

I looked up the rule PI, Holding.  I interpret the PI rule as no contact of any kind on Wr when the ball is thrown in his direction, anywhere on the field (including behind of LOS).  So, dat play was a PI and refs missed the call.  There should have been a PI and the IT voided.  I’m wondering why there was no auto TV time out for review by TV refs?

This was not a holding penalty.

      Read the rule.  https://www.refrsports.com/blog/defensive-holding-vs-pass-interference-key-differences-explained

      Cheers

Yeah it says anywhere on the field.  Wonder why they made the distinction being behind the line then
