Reply To: CIF Finals and Game Times

Over the years, Antelope Valley have lost many top FB players to schools in our Santa Clarita Valley, SF Valley private schools: Sierra Canyon, Chaminade, Alemany, Notre Dame & Oaks Christians because they could not afford playing for their local schools.  They are willing to commute long hours for a free ride to play FB.

I’ve talked to coaches from the poorer public schools who said there are many athletic kids who can’t afford to play FB.  These coaches try to help with 1/2 the cost via Booster Clubs funds, but even with the subsidy families just can not come up with their 1/2 share.  Sad.  These coaches are frustrated seeing all these talent go to waste.

Dat’s why the private schools FB teams are so good, they are getting public HS top talent coming in from outside their area.  Unfair, nope.  It’s pure economics for the public HS kids…  Cheers
