Won’t be in the state playoffs.  Won’t be in the CIF final.  Though Apple valley in their division will be.  And league member Rancho Santa margarita of trinity league will be

mater dei.  And you heard it from me from day 1 Butkus!!!  What did I say day 1?  I said this team is overrated.  They are undisciplined.   They are ghetto.  And almost all the players that USC is getting I truly do not like.

and with that hand picked all star team with the best talent in the nation.  Raul Lara failed.  Just like he failed at poly with the same type of kids.

this guy coaches thugs and gangsters and they never perform anywhere near expectations.

going 7-3 or 8-3 with that talent is embarrassing.  Mater DEI should fire Lara and USC should pull the scholarships of bowman Scott and the fat kid in the middle. Or let bowman redshirt.

Not defending Raul Lara but MD did play a national murderers row for their schedule….or at least that’s what they have done last few years. I don’t follow them Closely.

To their credit yes.   And they beat Bosco and mission Viejo. Shut out the Diablo we 20-0.  So you would think wow what a season.

but they lost to centennial twice.  And lost to RSM.  Carson’s team once.

        3 losses.

Dang Java you’re on a mission to discredit Mater Dei HS FB program, players, and HC Lara, I have no idea why? Wipe Out Brah, it’s big time disrespectful.  And, you’re a Californian; I would expect this type of thing from an outsider.

I will later on counter your rant about Mater Dei. My wife and I are getting ready to entertain our small family for Thanksgiving. Lot’s of cleaning, inside and outside our home. I do all our yard and outside work, plus help my wife inside. Today we are shopping for the food and beverages. I have da wines already from my B+ wine cellar.

      Cheers for now.

I don’t think anyone likes teams who unfairly stack their rosters.  It’s hs sports.  Play from your neighborhood.

I hate IMG  same way. I’m just not in Florida.

and yeah. Mayer dei out talents people.  They aren’t well coached.  They aren’t disciplined.  At all. The public school beat them twice.  All year we heard about first time was a fluke.  MD turned the ball over so much.  Twice in a year isn’t a fluke.

MD players and fans needed this.  They need to shut up.  Swallow their humility.  Ay by the rules.  Don’t assault people and cover it up.  Play with real Catholic kids from Santa Ana. Don’t cheat.  Don’t peacock.  Shut up and play.  And send that thug coach packing.    He sucks.

And this year they failed spectacularly.  More talent than anyone else in the nation and beat by a first year coach 7-6. In their own league.  Didnt even win league. Had to have a special invite to the playoffs.

then lost to a public school.  Twice.  In the same season.

        good.

I realize you’re right about other schools cheating too.  I don’t have time for it all but I have personal stories about CIF preventing kids from playing sports after transferring to schools who had 25 boys.  In the entire school.  And the kid had never even played the sport. And stories of kids allowed to transfer into other schools just before the playoffs. Having to sit out two games. Of the regular season. Just in time to be plugged into the starting rotation for CIF.

so yeah no sympathy at all for a team that was handpicked whose players I believe actually earn money by being at that school and whose families benefit.  Who all have their choice of whatever D1 school they want to go to  who posture and point and chest bump and act like punks on the field?   I don’t think I’m alone enjoying seeing them lose.

mix in Raul Lara and the thug he had at Polly and you just got a recipe for two groups of really unlikable people. Folks who like Raul and folks who support this present system of MD

by the way under Rollo this wasn’t always like this.  I realize they always had transfers in and out with Marinovich and Leinart  and others.  But they mostly still had real Catholic kids from OC.  It’s become ridiculous now.  I had hoped the hazing scandal would bring them down. But apparently football is too important to that school to allow that to happen

I have mentioned my frustration with parochial school football. It’s actually  a nationwide pandemic. In Chicago. In New Jersey. Maybe the exception seems to be Texas? They do it in Hawaii? I don’t know. You only harping on Mater Dei is simplistic.

and yes corona centennial also recruits

On flip side, many inner city, Lower income kids get to go to better and safer schools. And I get the argument of you want to play with the best to be the best. Iron sharpens iron. But we can see that also has a downside.

But the damage it’s doing to other public HS programs is a tragedy.

I think parochial schools need to be limited to 3/4 transfers a year.

I would argue that that rule only should apply to schools above a certain size.   If you’re a school with 100 kids. Half girls.  Covering 4 grades?  You’re fighting to survive.

this problem imo is limited to the upper reaches.  D1.  D2.  Whatever they are.

telling a kid he can’t play volleyball. Or making him sit out half the season because he played  8th grade or freshman basketball across town was one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen.    As I said.  This was a school that at the time had like 10 -15 American boys of hs age.  It was almost a home school.

so at that level?   Crap.  I think you should recruit.  For survival.

not surprisingly the school.  After 40 years.  Shut down a couple years after this    It didn’t have a formal affiliation with a church.  Local charter and magnet and other religious schools just buried it
