Much as I like the guy. I’ll counter.
If I see another ineligible center downfield wandering around. Bringing back another td or 40 yard gain. I’m going to pour salt in my eyes. 3 this season is 3 too many
he’s boring and he’s a liar He’s paranoid and we learn nothing from him And whatever His job is to win Not entertain But he’s not entertaining At all And his post game press conferences suck
recruiting so cal was chads idea Probably actually the original Chad the wr coach Then Bowen Riley was coming up to speed in this new era way too slowly good for UsC to see that and act on it
Run game tomato tomahto I think what he can’t or hasn’t coached so far is the short run game and I believe that’s largely the fault of the shot gun and trying to run short yardage out of it
If you take out the patsies this team averages 31 points a game and I think they have about 3-4 pick 6 this year Fitzgerald I think has 2 and the fat kid had one Might have had one more Take those out and they’re at 28 a game offensively against real teams Not great
Defense key word was best of his tenure but still room to improve I agree but it’s way better We never saw shut outs in a half or 3 points allowed to teams like Nebraska Iowa northwestern Physical teams So that’s a plus
USC plays base to start and as the game wears on they do mix scheme and blitzes up I assume they want to see the opponents whole playbook against their base before they go start taking chances Willy nilly once you know what an opponent will do when you show them personnel and formation combinations it becomes easier to risk things later Every scheme and every blitz involves exposing yourself somewhere If you know how the opponent will react then you can chose a package where they’re not attacking your under belly
USC scored more points against Iowa than Oregon in worse weather And held Iowa to similar offensive output They scored 3 times each game. The difference is they got a fg versus a td v usc and at the end of the game they went for 2 and failed Ultimately costing them the game Didn’t need to against usc They scored 9 on a fg and td versus Oregon in the 4q
I don’t expect USC to beat UO and I don’t think it will be close But I’m seeing stuff like the Michigan game The recruiting class The road win v Neb And this brutal wet war yesterday. IOW has lost to Oregon and Indiana. Two really good teams. 20-15 to Indiana and they were ahead in the 4th.
so stuff doesn’t happen all at once but I think you have to ask. Is progress being made on both sides of the ball? I’d say given the OL and RB injuries and lack of depth. Yes. If progress being made defensively? Yes. Is the coaching good? I think so. We all second guess but I see talent being developed. And last. Is talent being brought on campus and developed. I’d yes a measured yes. It takes 3 years and USC got religion about a year ago.
